-Beto Hale - Musician, artist and former Editor of Music Pro
Guitarist Dan Freedman has been on the music scene for quite some time. Influenced by bands such as "The Allman Brothers" and "Lynyrd Skynyrd" early on, Dan has created his own bluesy rock style. When he was 18, he fronted his own rock n roll trio, one of the many bands he was in. After college, a move out to Colorado was made and he was involved in many groups and went on tour with the New Orleans based group "The Boulevards".
The Boulevards put out two studio CDs. One of the spots the band played was at the popular "House of Blues" in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Visits during Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest proved valuable for Dan as a musician: "When I am performing live there is a certain rush an artist feels and even more of a rush when they get a reaction from the crowd. Basically, when your playing live, you feed off of your audience. It`s a very interesting vibe that goes on. I played with The Boulevards out in Colorado since around 1996 and recently played some gigs in New Orleans with the group."
Back in Colorado, the band was playing frequently throughout the state. Soon after that, he formed his own group "Rare Form" a power trio with Beto Hale and Steve Morrow. During this period, Dan put out his first solo CD entitled "Rare Form" comprised of all original music. Dan Freedman recalls his experience with Rare Form: "After The Boulevards, I got Rare Form together which was a trio performing all of my original music. That was a real rush being able to do that. Playing your own music is very gratifying."
Back in New York, Dan fronts his own group "The D.F. Project", plays solo and is a member of several groups, having just toured with "The Boulevards" in March 2005 performing in New Orleans and Mississippi.
And now, Dan continues to play successful shows throughout the New York area, following his heart`s desire for music and his smile, performing with his own music outfit, The D.F. Project.
