Biography

Dangerous Folk…
“Know more folk songs than a Public TV Pledge Drive" -Milwaukee Shepherd Express
“Welcoming and kindly as a back porch sing-along on a summer's day" -Victory Review

From the days of “Make Love, Not War”, the best of love songs and peace songs remind us of the powerful anthems and songs considered “dangerous” from when the times they were a’ changing - songs that once again resonate for today’s world. Dangerous Folk present a “mighty wind” of favorite memories with a power and honesty that spans the generations! Dangerous Folk present a sing-along concert of those favorite songs that we all remember from Peter, Paul, and Mary, The Kingston Trio, The Highwaymen, The New Christy Minstrels, Pete Seeger, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and more! Veteran folk singers David HB Drake, Julie Thompson, and Cap Lee lead those good old songs we grew up on.

Lyrics

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

Written By: David HB Drake

LET THERE BE LIGHT!
c. David HB Drake/December 22, 1992
(Capo 2 to sound in A)

G Bm C Em
Let there be Light, Let there be Light,
C G Em C G D G
Come to end this long winter's night, Oh Let there be Light!

In the dark ancient forest, where the first bonfires burned
There the Shaman asked spirit for the sun to return.

Chorus

With Menorah they gathered, in the temple they prayed,
Where for eight nights lamps flickered with oil for but one day.

Chorus

And in Bethlehem's manger, amid shepherd and beast
Mother Mary held her newborn child as a star lit the east.

Chorus

Bring the Hanukah candles, to the Solstice fires run,
See the Christmas tree glisten, the New Year has begun.

Chorus

So lift up your voices for the darkness has gone
And greet the Creator with the joy of this dawn.

Chorus x2
