Bio

What is it that great artists do? They bring together the everyday and the poetic, the down-to-earth tragi-comedy of life and the philosophical musings that are rooted in it. And they do all of this through the shadowy medium of sensous pleasure.

As a student of literature and philosophy who has never forgotten where he came from and those he's met along the way, that's what I do. Let's be honest (something not popular in this industry), I'm not Bob Dylan, and I'm not The Beatles. I don't want to be. I want to sing songs to people that they can enjoy, whilst giving them thoughts and showing them dreams to win their minds some leeway.

Since the age of 17, I've been playing to crowds of ordinary people. Carpenters, miners, office workers, cleaning ladies, bank managers, pensions officers, teachers, doctors, print-setters, supermarket shelf-stackers...I've sung to them all. In Tamworth (my hometown in the UK), in France (I speak fluent French), in Germany, in Spain, in Holland, to Americans, to Canadians, to Italians, to Ozzies, to Chinese, to Romanians...I've sung to them too. I sang them songs about their lives which let them hold themselves up to the light, turn themselves around and probe into the mystery of things.

It's not a dayjob. It's a vocation. It's irrelevant whether I make the big-time or not. I'm simply doing what I should do.
