Dani Dougherty

Dani has been writing songs since childhood. She picked up the guitar and taught herself to play at the age of thirteen and since then has composed and performed her own material and played all over the Northwest, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Dani's songwriting style is completely unique. She is very raw and real with her lyrics... to listen to her is almost like hearing her journal read out loud. Her music evokes much emotion and thought. Trying to compare her to another artist is difficult, some say that she sounds like Edie Brickell or Joni Mitchell, others say there is a hint of the Cranberries Her voice is often described as mesmerizing and soothing.

Among her favorite artists are: Pedro the Lion, Damien Jurado, Bjork, Chris Lamson, Ben Folds, Sarah McLaughlin, Sinead O'Conner, Ani DiFranco, Fionna Apple, Dave Matthews, Keane, Natalie Merchant, Bob Dylan.
