Bio

Daniel Amalm is a classically trained guitarist and composer inspired by flamenco, blues and electronic music. Introduced to guitar from a young age by his dad, Daniel furthered his musical education at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

His earliest achievements on guitar include attaining honours in levels 1-6 with the Trinity College of Music London and placing runner up in Australia's 9th National Classical Spanish Guitar Competition by the age of 14. In 1996 Daniel signed to Albert Productions/EMI and released Classical Gas which topped the dance charts at no.5 and reached #21 on Australia's Aria charts.

Daniel is also an established Actor in Australia (Home and Away, Underbelly, Two Fists One Heart, Cedar Boys, Rescue Special Ops, The Contender, Pulse, Black Comedy) juggling an acting career alongside his professional engagements as a guitarist.

Fast forward to now..

Daniel's live electro-acoustic guitar fusions with DJs caught the attention of audiences through clubs spanning Europe and USA. From Malta's Prestige club in Paceville (where the journey began) to residencies at Barcelona's Dime lounge and performances at Shoko, New York's Soho Club, London's infamous Mansion party, Ibiza's Nikki Beach, LA's deep house venue El Bar and Oslo's Dattera til Hagen to name a few.

Daniel is also part of original electronic live duo Crussen & Åmalm most recently performing at ADE (Amsterdam Dance Festival 2017) and Ahau's New Years event in Tulum Mexico.

Aside from collaborating with DJ/Producers, Daniel also performs as a soloist with a looper and recently finished producing a solo EP soon to be released. Drawing from an array of musical influences and the vibe in the room, Daniel's solo looping creates an ambient setting with layers of improvised melodies and progressions flowing from one feel to the next.

Equally matched is Daniel's passion for the art of unplugged guitar. His progressive flamenco trio The Amalm Brothers have an album on the way and his solo repertoire celebrates the greats of classical and jazz such as Andrés Segovia, Baden Powel, Earl Klugh, Lenny Breau, Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass.
