Bio

Danielle Knoll is a 20 year-old contemporary pop/rock singer-songwriter from Toronto, Ontario with a repertoire of over 70 original songs. She is currently working on her solo debut, which will be released in 2014.

Danielle was enrolled in Coalition Music’s Artist Entrepreneur program in Fall 2013. She had the opportunity to work with Treble Charger front man and producer (Sum 41, Marianas Trench), Greig Nori. In September 2013 she worked on YTV’s The Next Star’s live televised finale, as a backup singer in the house band. In early 2013 Danielle performed in showcases in both Canadian Music Week and North By North East. During this time Danielle also performed in numerous clubs around Toronto, including a weekly residency at the Ber Ber Lounge on Front Street.

Her music career started in 2008, when she started playing solo acoustic sets in small coffee shops around her Thornhill/Richmond Hill neighborhood. This led to the recording of her first 4-song demo of original music with Gemini Award Winner Sid Lieberman.

Through her music, Danielle has been involved in a variety of social causes. In 2009 she performed and participated in the coordination of York Region Live, a benefit concert for The Stephen Lewis Foundation in support of HIV/Aids research. This was promoted by a live musical performance and interview on Rogers Daytime Toronto. In that same year, her original song “What If?” placed first in the Woodbridge Earth Hour Songwriting Contest.

In 2010 she was the subject of a student project in Ryerson’s RTA program The Business of Music course. The students had to fictionally “sign” an artist, promote their shows, and conduct interviews and photo-shoots for Danielle, which provided her with invaluable experience and a strong desire for the “real thing”.

After performing and recording solo for two years, she realized she wanted to give her music a fuller, pop/rock edge. In 2010 she formed a band under her name. The Danielle Knoll Band performed in major venues in Toronto and the GTA including The El Mocambo, The Sound Academy, Cadillac Lounge, and the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. The Danielle Knoll Band placed first in two of Supernova’s Battle of the Bands Series competitions.

When the other band members went on to pursue other career paths in 2011, Danielle went solo, realizing that she was “all in” and was going to make her music her life’s work.

She is an ambitious, driven, creative performer, with a talent for writing infectiously catchy pop/rock tunes.
