Biography

On arriving in Dublin in 2004, Canadian singer-songwriter Danielle Smith found herself struggling to make ends meet. After losing yet again another job, a chance meeting with one of this cities homeless inspired her to purchase and learn the guitar.

Within 2 weeks she was busking on the streets, learning her trade the old fashioned tried-and-tested way. Soon Danielle Smith, originally a pianist, discovered a whole new musical world through this newly found instrument, singing the songs of Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams and Neil Young and so her first foray into song writing began.

Danielle Smith completed the recording of her debut EP, Miles, November of last year with the engineering skills of Dave Slevin and the lap guitar genius of well known street busker Niall Lawlor.

To date she has played alongside Gavin Glass, Declan De Barra, The Maladies, The Chapters, Jenny Lindfors and most recently has appeared on Channel 6 for “The Airfield Sessions”, performing alongside Ireland’s finest including The Republic of Loose, Jape, David Kitt, Mundy and Cathy Davey.
