Bio

Originally from Kfar Saba, Israel, bassist and composer Daniel Ori's first exposures to music were piano recitals at his grandmother's apartment in Tel-Aviv. Her attempts to teach Daniel traditional piano lessons were disrupted by his interest with contemporary music. At age 14, Daniel took his older brother's electric bass, which was lying around into his own hands. The connection with the instrument came immediately and Daniel's musical voyage had begun. His growing interest in Jazz music brought him to Rimon School of Music, where he studied for three years, majoring in Jazz performance. Daniel has since collaborated with some of Israel's top Jazz prospects.

In December 2005, FOURWORD quartet released its debut album "Money", featuring Ofer Peled, Shay Maoz, Roi' Oliel and Daniel Ori. The group has been performing throughout Israel's top Jazz venues and festivals since the summer of 2004 including the recent 2007 Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat. FOURWORD Quartet's album reveals four of Daniel's original compositions, demonstrating deep groove with soulful melodies.

In 2006, Daniel decided to take on studies again, as a scholarship student at Berklee School of Music. There he studied with World class Musicians Matthew Garrison, Dave Samuels, Alain Mallet, John Lockwood and many more. Upon completing his degree, majoring in Contemporary Writing and Production, Daniel is currently busy playing, writing, producing, teaching and residing in New York City.
