BandAlternativeSinger/Songwriter

The music that I write is really in the style of 80's college rock but with the social conscience of artists like Bob Mould and Billy Bragg. I write music to make a statement, not just noise.

Biography

Interesting, independent music is back with the work of the two band mates known as the "Yardsale Monkeys." Having met in kindergarten, the band's music has grown and developed as over three decades of playing music together. Influences include some of the more socially conscious artists of indie rock including Bob Mould, Billy Bragg, and the Pixies.

Lyrics

Speechless

Written By: Daniel Oswald

We will not get involved.
This is not a problem we can solve.
So, our politicians boldly say.
All the games that other people play.
These are not words spoken in jest.
Why do some never get any rest?
While others seem so blessed.
And so many without words…are left speechless
They are left Speechless.

-So many times, so many times
We take for granted all these rights
While other sit in fear, While others sit in fear
Quietly through the night

Why are so many made to toil
For a few barrels of cheaper foreign oil
Children never knowing their mother’s sweet caress
And I am left so silent now - I’m left speechless.
I’m left Speechless

-So many times, so many times
We take for granted all these rights
While other sit in fear, While other sit in fear
Quietly through the night

Devils on horseback weapons at their side
Ethnic cleansing, all others pushed aside
Ending their torture may be our greatest test
While they are left in silence now
We should all be speechless.
We should all be speechless

-So many times, so many times
We take for granted all these rights
While other sit in fear, While others sit in fear
Quietly through the night

They're all speechless.

Bleeding Heart, Burning Sun

Written By: Daniel Oswald

A thousand children died today
a new disease they found.
An old church caught fire
and burned to the ground.
Three men board a plane
and then brighter than the sun.
A small town in a rock slide
and the day has just begun.

-Bleeding heart, burning sun
on burns the world but not for anyone.
Bleeding heart, burning sun
on burns the world but not for anyone.

Men in power demand
chant loyalty proclaimed.
A million innocent people die
and who do we blame.
They struggle to endure
and still they succumb.
Will we express our voice
with a nuclear bomb?

-Bleeding heart, burning sun
on burns the world but not for anyone.
Bleeding heart, burning sun
on burns the world but not for anyone.

--Will we survive without our maker?
--Where will we find a guiding hand?
--Will we endure all our envies?
---Till the rest all turns to sand...

-Bleeding heart, burning sun
on burns the world but not for anyone.
Bleeding heart, burning sun
on burns the world but not for anyone.

A thousand children died today
a new disease they found.
An old church caught fire
and burned to the ground.
Three men board a plane
and then brighter than the sun.
A small town in a rock slide
and the day has just begun.

Bleeding heart, burning sun
on turns the world but not for anyone.
Bleeding heart, burning sun
on turns the world but not for anyone.

Invisible Chains

Written By: Daniel Oswald

Many miles away
Further than any man made object
I've traveled far from my home.
In the icy cold of space
Never again to see your face.
In the never-ending race
Like Earth around the Sun.

-Invisible Chains

Here I'm looking at the sky
More I sit and wonder why.
Here I lay and pine because
You're the one I love.
Of my strength I am unsure
All this pain I do endure.
How my vision is obscured
By clouds in my brain.

-Invisible Chains

--They say it's reason for my aggression.
--And there is no need for my insidious
obsession
--They say it's hard when you get to know me,
--and still I look to find the keys, to all of these...chains.

Now you see my story is told
Watch my life as it unfolds.
How my world is turning cold
It's driving me insane.
I can feel my senses leave
I can;t help it's hard to breath.
I can't stop my increasing need
Inside bonds of chains.

-Invisible Chains

I Can't Find The Words

Written By: Daniel Oswald

Every time I see her, I just sit back and stare
If she ever noticed, she never seemed to care
I don’t get discouraged and I can’t explain why.
If I ever wondered, I’d never even try.
I can’t find the words.
I can’t find the words
I’ve tried a thousand times to write her a note.
Still, I can’t stand to read all the simple words that I wrote.
I’m not a poet so I blame the ones I’ve heard.
I can’t find understanding; I can’t find the words
I can’t find the words
I can’t find the words
I can’t find the words
I can’t find the words
--I look through every book I know.
--To find the words that say I love you so.
--Maybe it’s ignorance, maybe it’s absurd,
-Maybe I’m stalling, Maybe I’ve lost my nerve
--Maybe I’m crazy, maybe I’m disturbed.
--Maybe it’s fear, but I can’t find the words.
I can’t find the words.
