Bio
Dani Umpi was born in Tacuarembó, 388 km away from Montevideo, the city capital of Uruguay.
He has developed a fruitful and varied career involving different arts. As a writer, he published several novels and poems; as a visual artist he is involved in performance art and exhibitions; as a singer, he is noticed for his one of a kind shows: wearing crazy outfits and singing an impulsive and fanciful repertoire with outrageous versions of well known songs, as well as his own.
In 2005 he released his first record: “Perfecto”, with his own compositions and in 2009, along with guitarist Adrián Soiza he released “Dramática”, with versions of ballads sung in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
Opposite to “Perfecto”, an upbeat and fun record that fits perfectly in discotheques, “Dramática” exposes a more intimate approach to the public, with a touch of cafe concert and performance. Some of the artists versioned in this record are Pet Shop Boys, Adamski and Seal, Ace of Base, The Cardigans, Tom Jobim, among others.
