Dan Kinney

Dan Kinney

I'm a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who finally figured out I don't need a studio or a band to make great music. I bought some surprisingly cheap equipment and taught myself how to use it, and I've never felt more fulfilled as an artist.

After playing in multitudinous rock, punk, and indie bands over the years, I've decided to overcome my techno-phobic tendencies and start recording on my own. The technology is good enough, simple enough, and cheap enough now, even for a luddite like me.

Some of my biggest influences are Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü, Sugar, Solo), Blake Schwartzenbach (Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil), Greg Graffin (Bad Religion - master of punk rock harmonies), Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, The Beatles, Billie Holiday,
The Descendents, Hank Williams, Night Ranger (no, I'm not kidding).

I've gotten to the age at which it's put up or shut up, and I'm not prepared to shut up, as anyone who knows me could attest.

I don't know where this is going. All I know is that it feels right and I can't stop.

No officially released material. I have songs up on reverbnation (http://www.reverbnation.com/dankinney), Last FM (http://www.last.fm/music/Dan+Kinney), and Myspace (myspace.com/dansingssongs)
