in 2004 DAN MACKENZIE received not only an EMMY nomination (best theme song) but the highly respected ASCAP Foundation Sammy Cahn Award for excellence in songwriting, (awarded previously to the likes of John Mayer and Josh Ritter).

In the 2000's Mackenzie's acoustic solo project enjoyed airplay on KCRW, KPFK, WFUV and many other indie stations across the nation , as well as in Italy and Germany and, most notably , the Philippines, where he had two top ten hits in 2003. In the late 2000's Dan focused on songwriting, working with many diverse performers, most notably Joss Stone and Martin Sexton. He moved from LA to New York and in 2010 won another ASCAP songwriting award - the Joe Raposo Award.

In 2013 Dan wrote and produced songs for film musical Dear Dumb Diary (produced by Jerry Zucker and directed by Rock Of Ages' Tony nominee Kristin Hanggi). He is currently writing and producing songs for Boardwalk Empire starlet Margot Bingham, and is also developing a Broadway spoof musical with Jerry Zucker. Dan recently signed a publishing/placement/songwriting deal with Secret Road Music.

Recently, Mackenzie's sound has coalesced into kind of an Americana- singer/songwriter vibe with occasional ventures into other styles.
