Bio
Bluesman Dan Mahar cut his teeth on the South Side of Chicago. Playing clubs on Lincoln Ave, Mahar had the privilege of sitting in with many known players and singers such as Buddy Guy, Jimmy Johnson, Chicago Slim and many more windy city greats. In 79 at the first threat of disco Mahar fled to the quiet serene of Aberdeen South Dakota.
Dakota bound, Mahar quickly formed a group appropriately named "Fast Eddie". Ed entertained clubs throughout the Dakotas, Wyoming Montana and Minnesota. In 87 when .Fast Eddie. slowed down, Mahar set out for the grandeur of Nashville.
One night while doing a showcase of some original blues, Mahar met Billy Dean. Dean had just signed a deal with Capital Records and hired Mahar to fill the lead guitar spot in his band. For the next 4 years they toured the States, appearing twice on the Tonight Show, Austin City Limits, The Grand Ole Opry and many other radio and television programs.
Mahar now lives in Sioux Falls South Dakota and has spent the last few years writing songs and performing across the region. His new cd "Long Stone's Throw will be released this August.
