Bio
Biography: Born and raised in Chicago, Danny’s love of music began listening to the group which most influenced his love of music: The Weavers. He began his musical career by taking guitar lessons at the Old Town School in Chicago in 1962 through 1966. In 1964 he met and began taking guitar lessons from the spectacular folksinger Jo Mapes, who has been a friend, confidant and mentor for nearly 40 years.
On March 12, 2005, after not playing guitar for more than 25 years, Danny performed for the first time at an open mic in Miami. That moment changed his life. He now lives for making people happy by performing. During the ensuing months, he was a featured performer the Florida Music Festival (May, 2006), and at clubs throughout South Florida acoustic venues and festivals. Danny was a headliner at The Luna Star Café and has been the featured artist at the Main Street Café. Dan has also been featured on local NPR station WLRN - singing and being interviewed by host Michael Stock numerous times.
Dan’s brings his rich baritone voice and Travis picking to tunes by Gershwin, Tom Jobim, Cole Porter, Kris Kristopherson, Tom Paxton, Woodie Guthrie, - and from the Bossa Nova, Jazz and Blues to Country and Folk.
