In 2006, an 18 year old Danny California got his start (then known as Danzk8). Having little money to spare in college, Danny California started making his own beats to rap to. He began making countless beats and rapping whenever he wasn't studying. California made countless, miscellaneous songs without ever releasing a full project such as a mixtape, EP, or LP.
He developed a persona as a party entertainer with his jazzy, dance, europop style production and party themed lyrics. He began to make a name for himself around his university and began opening for many underground touring acts such as Eternal of the Wu-Tang Clan. This pattern continued all the way through graduation when he decided he wanted to be a full time musician.
After graduation in 2011, California (still known as Danzk8) released a full mixtape entitled Brief Introduction which generated decent internet buzz. However, he changed his name officially to Danny California after concluding that fans found Danzk8 too confusing to spell and pronounce. He has since released a single called "You, Me and a Bottle" and an EP "A Long, Lonely Summer".
