Widely known as a spectacular Rod Stewart impersonator with his The Rod Stewart Tribute Show, the Motor City's Danny D (Dzialo) has just released a rich, 10-song compilation CD seething with the Detroit sound. Hailing from Hamtramck, Michigan, Danny D literally grew up in the center of Detroit Rock City—and with the musicians thereof. And many of these veteran Detroit musicians add their native sound to this rock and soulful CD from The D.
Grand Funk Railroad's Mark Farner shares a duet with Danny D. Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band members Drew Abbott, Alto Reed, Robyn Robbins and Shaun Murphy all added their respective talents. Rod Stewart touring guitarist Paul Warren adds his licks on a couple tunes. Kid Rock and Howling Diablos keyboardist Jimmie Bones makes contribution, as does rapper Hush, blues greats Johnnie Bassett and Darryl Lee, as well as backup singers Carly Hartwell and Eliza Neals, and others. Tino Gross of Funky D Records produced the CD, as well as played guitar, drums, percussion, harmonica and back up vocals on many of the songs. Still Got The Boy In Me is both a personal statement, and a testimony to the great tapestry of Detroit music and The Detroit Sound.
Playing his own music since a young age, Danny has matured with the inspiration of his Rock-n-Roll roots and the insight that comes from age and experience. Danny D has opened for some very big name artists such as: Mitch Ryder, David Lee Roth, Bad Company, The Tubes, Eddie Money, Air Supply, and The RomanticsThe Vagabonds are Danny D's backup band, composed of veteran musicians: guitarist James Niemi, Darryl Lee on bass, drummer Paul Sikorski, and on keyboards Bruce Neault. See Danny D and the Vagabonds perform routinely all over the Detroit Metropolitan area, venues large and small, as well as engagements throughout North America. Not only do these guys have a fantastic repertoire of original music, DannyD and the Vagabonds perform the greatest Rod Stewart tribute in the country. Winning a tribute contest in Las Vegas won this Rod Stewart tribute a 3-day gig performing at the Playboy Mansion. Top accolade- Danny D has been the only Rod Stewart impersonator to ever be pulled up on stage by Rod Stewart—to sing Do You Think I'm Sexy? with the man himself!
