Shadows Of Evening

Written By: Danny Davies & Judy Wolfson

THE SHADOWS OF EVENING FALL
THE ORCHESTRA SLEEPING
THE LINGERING ECHOES FADE
OF WONDER AND WEEPING

AS EVERYONE LEAVES THE HALL
AMIDST ALL THE LAUGHTER
YOUR SPIRIT RETURNS AND THE STAGE IS ALIVE
FOR EVER AND AFTER

YOU TOUCH ME AND OPEN MY HEART
AND FEELINGS THAT I’VE NEVER KNOWN
SURROUND ME AND ENTER MY SOUL
AT LAST I AM WHOLE

PERFECT IN EVERY WORD
THE WEB YOU UNCOVER
AND I AM THE HERO WHO STANDS BY YOUR SIDE
WITH YOU AS MY LOVER

THE SHADOWS OF EVENING FALL
AND MINGLE BETWEEN US
AND ONLY THE BLIND CAN DENY ME THIS DREAM,
FOR THEY’VE NEVER SEEN US

BUT ALL THOSE WHO SAW YOU TONIGHT
PERFORMING AS NEVER BEFORE
WOULD MOVE THE HEAVENS AND TIDE
TO BE BY YOUR SIDE

THE SHADOWS OF EVENING FALL
THE CURTAINS DESCENDED
AND ALL THAT IS LEFT IS A SHADOW OF DOUBT
THIS DREAM HAS ENDED

Who's The Greater Fool?

Written By: Danny Davies & Judy Wolfson

Who’s the greater fool?
Can you answer me?
Will it always be like this?
Even when he’s cruel
Melting with his eyes
I forgive his lies, and we kiss

From such a helpless man how dare he steal?
And did he stop to think how I would feel?
I never knew that he was using me
With empty words he was confusing me
But one thing’s very clear to see;
There’s a fool inside me.

I’m the greater fool
Who loves him and obeys
I have looked away too much.
Even when I’m cool
He melts me with his smile
So we reconcile, and touch

But if I left him, would I fade away?
Or hold regrets if I decide to stay?
For being weak was always my mistake
But when we speak, my voice begins to break
And one thing’s very clear to see
He makes a fool out of me

I’ll take myself in hand
This fool at last has learned
This is the price that he’s got to pay
And he must understand
These goods must be returned
There cannot be another way
No more a fool inside me, from today!

Who’s the greater fool?
Can you answer me?

There’s no greater fool
Than me

Shine On Down

Written By: Danny Davies & Pete Gallagher

Home On Broadway

With every light in Heaven
Refracted at your feet
You’re dancing through the heartache
Of 42nd Street

And then you turn that corner
The rain won’t dare any more
A thousand stars to greet you
A thousand hands implore

With smiles that last for ever
You’ll never laugh alone
With arms to lift you higher
Of strangers you call your own

And as they buy that moment
As lonely lovers do
They raise their eyes to heaven
But the light still shines from you

The very soul of the sun
Has found a home on Broadway

Shine on down we are all angels of the morning
But tonight belongs to you
Hold me now and we can ride this light for ever
Til tomorrow’s breaking through

So you and I for ever
Together find that light

That shines and shares the moment
Tonight and every night

And we will rise for ever
To places we never knew

Beyond the sun together
I’m only here for you

With every beat of my heart
I’ve found my home on Broadway

Shine on down we are all angels of the morning
But tonight belongs to you
Hold me now and we can ride this light for ever
Til tomorrow’s breaking through

Slowly fall and let the darkness take your hand
Only you and violins will understand

And we’ll be one for ever
So take my hand for ever

Roll on open, as the angels light the way
Let the majesty begin

Shine on down we are all angels of the morning
But tonight belongs to you
Hold me now and we can ride this light for ever
Til the light is shining through…..through you

Hey Producer!

Written By: Danny Davies

Hey producer, I'm sorry to disturb you;
Hey producer, I don't mean to perturb you,
But I was wondering, when 'you gonna notice me?

I've been waiting with real anticipation
For you to witness my musical creation,
So hey producer, now's the time to notice me!

I've tried to mail, but to no avail;
I guess it must have slipped from your head.
So then I tried to ring, but I was transferred
To your voicemail - still unanswered.
Maybe we could have a little meeting instead?

So I dropped by your office to visit you in person,
But just as I thought that my luck couldn't worsen,
I could see you but, hey, you didn't notice me!

Well it may sound absurd but I thought if you heard
This sweet old show melody;
And if I plant it deep inside subconsciously,
Then may there's a chance that you would notice me.

So I'll keep it jazzy like a Broadway show blockbuster,
Yet make it snazzy as I throw the odd chord-cluster,
And add in some vamping with too many words
And so now even Sondheim will notice me!

I could write you the love song of the year;
Sing the ballad to launch my whole career;
But hopelessly, unless you notice me!

I would strip down to my underwear
But you're probably gay so you wouldn't care.
What's there left to do, to notice me?

Well I made it this far, so wherever you are
You can't evade me permanently.
You can try the Courts but they will fail to restrain me;
Not even if they lock me up and lose the key.

So, hey producer, honey I can't bear it.
Hey producer, I'll do anything, I swear it
For you to think it through,
For just a minute or two,
Cos I am needing you to notice me!
(Hey, at least hit me with a big finish!)
