Danny James

Danny James grew up near Detroit and spent the last 11 years living in a rural area outside Ann Arbor Michigan. At the age of 3 he found a box of old 78 RPM records in his parent’s basement and asked for a phonograph for Christmas so he could play them. This became the roots of his eclectic music interests. His record collection grew over the years to consist of early country, blues and rock and he started a part time business of restoring vintage recordings to CD using a mix of analog and digital tools.

Danny first set foot into a recording studio at age sixteen to record with a group of local veteran musicians. In the late eighties/early nineties, he played guitar, recorded and wrote songs for two regionally successful rock bands, “Room Service” and “Psycho Café”. It wasn’t until a few years ago, after a divorce and having been out of “professional” music for 10 years that he discovered his voice from within. He was asked to perform an acoustic show by a club owner who learned about his musical past. Danny obliged and even sang lead vocals on few songs for the first time. He caught the attention of local veteran country/blues singer Jim Tate, who became a mentor and vocal coach. He studied the guitar licks of the “old pros” and learned how to harness the power of his accurate baritone voice, and quickly put it to use by performing a successful “Johnny Cash Tribute” in various local clubs.

In the past couple years Danny found his true passion is modern country music with an “old school” flare. He since has performed many festivals and events with his trio, and even opened for national acts. Recently, he performed and recorded in Atlanta, and has just released “Southbound Train”, a 4 song CD sampler.
