"The credits play on at the Buffalo Music Awards"

The Danny Lynn Wilson Band was the top winner at the Buffalo Music Awards Wednesday night, winning in 4 categories, including Best Blues Band for the second year in a row.
Wilson, who has been performing for 25 years, said it was an honor just to have his music recognized. "The awards aren't always about how complicated your music is, it's that people enjoy it."
Wilson was quick to offer accolades to his band mates. "Most of the recognition should go to my musicians I play with. They are great."
Besides winning for Best Blues Band, Wilson also took top honors for Best Blues Male Vocalist.

"Danny Lynn Wilson Band - Look'n Up - Albatross Records"

I automatically light up when I read the words "all songs written by..." because, like it or not, I've never heard it before. Hearing "Forbidden Fruit" was all I needed to give this disc the clearance signal - dynamic arrangements and stylish vocals are the keys here, opening a treasure box of blues that is quite accessible even to the casual blues listener, as evidenced in "never Say Never." Danny's also accessible because he's right in our own backyard, living in Tonawanda, and playing all over Western New York.
The band provides a barrage of sound, with just the right measure of restraint (listen to "Angel") to accommodate Wilson's compositions, sometimes as a musical backdrop, other times mixed with plenty of short and sweet solos and fills. The guy running lights for their live show must be one busy beaver. This provides enormous variety: the songs all seem to have a life of their own. The musicians create a perfect stage for Wilson's lyrics to play out, a great example of this being the closing tune, "Brighter days."
As a kind of test, I slipped this CD on at work when nobody was around, and the next thing, people are checkin' it out and asking me who this is...further proof that this reaches well outside the blues bubble to pull everyone inside, yet stays well within the parameters of blues.

"The Twelve (Local) CD's of Chrsitmas"

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me-e-e: Danny Lynn Wilson, getting cool and gritty, singing blues on a CD.
What a modest little jewel the Danny Lynn Wilson Band's Look'n Up album is. No agony, no histrionics, no out-of-control guitar solos, just a band falling perfectly into place behind the fine grit of Wilson's vocals. This is civilized, cocktail lounge blues and the 10 Wilson originals charm you as completely as any pop tune. Particularly beguiling are "The Menu," which measures physical attraction in culinary terms, the lazy lovesick shuffle of "Slippin' Away" and the rollicking chorus of "Forbidden Fruit."
