The Single
On June 18th Cape Breton singer-songwriter Danny MacNeil releases his first single Ten Hour Day. This lyrical ballad draws listeners in with a melodic folk country sound, a relatable story and beautiful harmonies. Working as a carpenter for the last 5 years, Danny is no stranger to long arduous work days. This song however was written in years prior to carpentry when MacNeil was employed as a bartender; working long days in the summer heat only to be effortlessly persuaded to take a seat at the bar he had just finished tending. The song is a story of stories that are only suitable for song. With times of uncertainty ahead, 10 Hour Day is a glimpse into the social comradery that we now long for.
Danny was in the process of recording his first album when the Covid pandemic began. With only a few songs completed, 10 Hour Day was an easy choice for release as it is a relatable song of familiarities in a time of change. 10 Hour Day was recorded, mixed and produced by Michael S. Ryan at Hot Jupiter Sounds. The song features Michael on vocals as well as singer songwriter Molly Babin on vocals and piano. -
Danny’s music has decades of depth. His live shows are a powerful experience as he rides the line between intimate storytelling vibes and a danceable late night kitchen party. With an array of new material, his set is stronger than ever!
