"Rami Jaffee"

“Dan, Did I tell you I've been rockin’ out to your record [Songs from the Black Market]????? I think I did but if not..... dude, the first few songs have that ‘put Paul Rodgers out of business’ tone. Not many around with that perfect hard rock tone! and the others are killer mellow, almost Nick Drake at times. Great Job!!! Also, the production didn’t do the ordinary triple guitar power chords in every chorus. Very delicate in a way and old school as far as production.
KICK ASS!”
Rami
- of The Foo Fighters and The Wallflowers

"Charlie Colin"

“This album [Songs From The Black Market] makes me so happy. It’s refreshing to hear an artist follow his heart, as opposed to the industry standard. It jams, without loosing sight of the songs, which are masterfully written. I wish I had played on it!” - from Train

"Afeni Shakur"

“I remember the first time I heard Bob Dylan. It sent chills up my spine. Hearing Dan’s voice and his music sent those same chills through me!” - Activist and mother of Tupac Shakur

"Forrest Reda"

“Dan Rockett is the complete package…..Singer, songwriter, musician, and performer!.” - Music Connection Magazine

Bio

Dan Rockett’s need to explore music as a child was a natural obsession. From Neil Young’s “Sugar Mountain” to The Beatles “Strawberry Fields Forever”, he was engrossed by the powerful combination of lyric and melody. He began playing drums when he was seven, and then later switched to guitar in high school. While at Boston College, earning degrees in Literature, Secondary Education, Philosophy, and Theology, Dan’s true passion became apparent as he began writing his own songs.

As a respected figure in the Boston music scene, and a following to prove it, he would find himself sharing the stage with some of his favorite artists such as, Los Lobos, The Flaming Lips, Ziggy Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Al Kooper, G. Love, Medeski Martin and Wood, Stevie Nicks & many other National Headliners. His presence & vocals as front man was so strong, that he was asked to front an All Star Tribute to Bob Marley, which performed two very special sold out shows. With Dan on lead vocals the band also included the legendary jazz drummer Bob Moses, Guitarists Vernon Reid of Living Colour and Eric Krasno of Soulive, bassist Keith Moseley of The String Cheese Incident, and B-3 player Paul Wollstencroft of Melvin Sparks’ band.

Eventually, Dan moved to Los Angeles and released his Independent album, What I’ve Seen. His talent as a songwriter would attract the attention of legendary producer Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Jane’s Addiction). Mr. Ezrin took Dan under his wing and helped him to hone his skills as a writer and lyricist. He taught Dan the importance and weight of each word in good songwriting.

Dan’s musical talents would also find him scoring films for Producer/Director Eric Eisner, and playing guitar on the Macy Gray album, Big, produced by Justin Timberlake and Will.i.am. Dan also had the honor of writing, performing, and producing the track “Sometimes I Cry”, on the Tupac Shakur album, The Rose That Grew From Concrete.

In 2008, Dan Rockett's talents were showcased on major network TV. CBS's "Numbers" featured two of Dan Rockett's songs; Prodigal Son on the "Money For Nothing" episode and "Life Is A Dream (Ryan's Song)" on the "Guilt Trip" episode.

With over 60 new songs, he would choose 12 to become the foundation of his new Rock and Roll concept album, Songs From The Black Market. Employing the help of producer Chuck Reed (Blue October, Motorhead, many others), Dan called on his friends to help him record this amazing work of art, and they answered with vigor. The studio band consists of:

Deantoni Parks (The Mars Volta, Kudu) on Drums

Dan Rothchild (Beck, Fiona Apple) on Bass

Les Hall (Trey Anastasio, Crossfade) on Keys

Chris Woods (Beck,Christina Aguilera) on Violin

Alan Sovory (Lenny Kravitz) Background Vox

Kandace Lindsey (Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez) on Background Vox

Adrienne Woods (Kanye West) on Cello

Bob “Boo” Bernstein (Freddie Fender) on Pedal Steel Guitar

Now, armed with this new album and the three greatest musicians he knows, Dan Rockett is bringing his very special brand of Rock and Roll to fans everywhere.
