Bio
Songwriter jazz, blues rock, ambient soul, all capture elements of Dan Saulpaugh's music. Brought up and based in Lake Placid, NY, Saulpaugh plays with a colloquialism that is simultaneously pastoral and exuberant, drawing from influences such as Pat Metheny, Jeff Buckley, Bill Frisell, and Dave Matthews.
After immersing himself in jazz music in Lake Placid, he moved to Los Angeles where he performed regularly in jazz bands at clubs such as The Mint, Steamers, The World Stage, and various other venues in the area while living out of the saddle bags of his bicycle, "urban camping". Dan spent time in Boston too, performing at Wally's and Cambridge's Cafe Luna, before returning to Lake Placid.
Presently Dan performs throughout upstate NY, playing material from his recently released album "Transient Things," alongside jazz covers, and ambient noise improvisations.
