Bio
Dan Sullivan was born in Wichita, Kansas and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. The mid-western work ethic and easy going nature flows through Dan Sullivan and his music. His broad childhood influences ranged from Jim Croce, John Mellencamp, and Kiss to The Eagles, The Beach Boys and Johnny Cash. After college, Dan took his guitar and songbook out to sea working for various cruise lines. After two and a half years of sailing and salting, Dan landed in Austin, Texas. It's been home ever since. Dan's music is Texas-Americana flavored with inspirations from the likes of Robert Earl Keen, Walt Wilkins and Jerry Jeff Walker. Dan was a regional finalist and performer at the 2012 Kerrville Folk Festival. His band, The Detentions, was selected to open for Texas legend, Joe Ely, at The Saxon Pub last summer. And once again, they have been invited to open for Nashville Hall of Fame songwriter, Mac McAnally, in Detroit this summer. The show will benefit The Wounded Warrior Project. Dan's song "Salty Dog" was nominated in 2012 for best country song by the Austin Songwriters Group and he was selected to play a showcase at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN.
