Both myself and the bass player have just finished a degree in Jazz performance at Leeds College of Music. Whilst studying there we began to play both jazz and folk music together. A shared love of the music of John Martyn, Richard Thompson etc.. led to a number of duo performance which mainly included covers. After graduating in spring of 2008 we have had more time to write new material together. During the recording of some demos we experimented with creating textures by overdubbing ukelele, mandolin, vibes and backing vocals. Through doing this we decided to bring in an old friend of mine to play these parts live. We have been described as being part of the Freak Folk movement but we don't actually have any desire to be 'freaky', Just trying to write good pop songs
