"A national release and a return on a Montreal stage for Dany Bédar"

Press release / For immediate release

A national release and a return on a Montreal stage for Dany Bédar

Dany Bédar
Male vocalist of the year (ADISQ 2006)!

Montreal, November 14, 2006 – Flashback… June 24, 2006, on the evening of Saint-Jean-Baptiste day in the city of Quebec, Dany Bédar attended a show in a bar and discovered Joel Kroeker, a visiting Vancouver guitarist and singer. Dany was attracted by his talent, so he bought his album and played it over and over. This led him to ask his management to contact Joel and suggest a possible collaboration. The two artists met and they connected… The result: the fabulous composition Déjà Vu. Many things set them apart: distance, language, culture; however, the end result, reflected through the song and the video, is a testament of the obvious connection and common denominators between them. This unexpected collaboration and its success have obviously raised much curiosity throughout the rest of Canada; replicating the success in the music industry that was accomplished by the movie Bon Cop, Bad Cop this summer.

“As a journalist I've covered popular music in Canada for four decades. I have never before witnessed the type of collaborative generosity given to acclaimed Vancouver singer/guitarist Joel Kroeker by Quebec superstar Dany Bédar. A casual meeting in a club in Quebec City two years ago has led to a friendship of mutual respect and deep musical admiration. Watching them perform together is a delight.” Larry LeBlanc.

Incidentally, we have just confirmed that Déjà Vu will be on Joel’s next solo album to be launched throughout Canada and internationally in February.

As the winner of the Male vocalist of the year Félix at the ADISQ Gala for a second consecutive year in 2006, Dany Bédar is currently very present on radio and television in Quebec with the wonderful song and video for Déjà Vu.

Dany Bédar’s acoustic tour Y’a personne, which started last spring with over 13 sold out shows, is back on the road in Quebec and moving full speed ahead since September. The tour continues its momentum to finally end with a return to Montreal on December 1 at Club Soda. Let’s recall that this acoustic tour resulted in Dany’s most recent album that was released last May entitled Acoustique… en studio!, which has already sold more than 40 000 copies in the province of Quebec.
