Music
The best kept secret in music
Press
I've listened to this CD about 50 times since I got it a week ago, and I have to say that Daphne Shawn's voice is just that: Phenomenal. The selection of songs are just right too. All to often we hear artists who can sing but the choice of songs doesn't showcase their vocal range to their maximum potential. This shows that and beyond. You can FEEL the music. Her cover of "I Can Only Be Me" sent chills up my spine! I think we all will hear GREAT THINGS to come from this new voice in MUSIC! This CD is a landmark debut that people will be talking about for years to come. Step aside Anita Baker, Natalie Cole, Audra McDonald - a new girl is in town!!!!!! And THAT is What it's all ABOUT!!!!!

Bio
Daphne Shawn hails from North Carolina where she was seranaded by both of her parents with R&B, jazz, blues and gospel music. Who knew that a little girl who made up songs swinging on her swing set would maintain the passion to keep her singing? Daphne's influences are great due to her work as a musical theatre actress. She revels in the arias of Puccini, the scores of Adam Guettel and the contemplative heartache of Billy Holiday while grooving to D'Angelo and Jill Scott. Her first project, "What It's All About" is also the music that comprised her first cabaret show in NYC at Don't Tell Mama's. This music is lush, jazzy, gritty and yearning. However, Daphne's been busy writing original tunes that reflect a stronger R&B connection.
