Da Prospex

Da Prospex

BandRockHip Hop

Da Prospex are currently a 2-piece band consisting of myself, Rocky, the drummer/rapper/pianist and lead guitarist/backup vocalist Vadim. Putting together a combination of rock and hip hop, no band out there is more original, guaranteed. We just need our big break, on this road of daring to dream.

Biography

Da Prospex are currently a 3-piece band (drums, guitar, bass) that combines rock and hip hop like no other. Rocky is the drummer/rapper/singer/pianist of the group, Vadim is the lead guitarist/backup vocalist, and our newest member Hector is the bassist. Rocky and Vadim have been writing music together for about 2 years now. The Chilli Peppers & Jimmy Hendrix being the biggest influence to Vadim (guitarist). As for myself, the drummer/rapper (Rocky), my biggest influences would be Eminem, Linkin Park, and New Found Glory. The combination of our influences is basically what gives you a taste of our music. The beats I play on the drums are not your average rock beats. I try to give them sort of a hip hop vibe. And by rapping over the tracks, it gives me the opportunity to better get my point accross in a song. I feel that rapping well-written lyrics gives a song its edge. And that's what sets us apart from the other bands, is our originality, and committed time we put into our song. Not just playing 3 simple power chords...Da Prospex are about playing really good complicated music with all our heart and soul. Recently we were in the Emergenza Battle of The Bands Competition (2006/2007), and made it to the SemiFinal Round before being eliminated thanks to politics. Now we are still just looking for our break, looking to play more competitions, and waiting for the right people to listen to our music to get us that record deal!

All My Life

Written By: Rocky "Da Rock" Gammone

All My Life
Lyrics written by Rocky “Da Rock” Gammone
Music written by Da Prospex: Vadim Bondar & Rocky “Da Rock” Gammone

Verse 1
My whole life’s been a struggle, I just never got a break
An emotional rollercoaster, with just way too many mistakes
It’s a horrible way to live, asking the questions why and what if
Why can’t I just appreciate that life is a precious gift
Those who never believed in me, well guess what, it doesn’t really matter
Cause I’ve always believed in myself, and I’m still gonna make it to the top of the ladder

Chorus
All my life for just one moment
Waited to be on the stage and own it
Waited to hear millions scream my name
Yeah I’ve dreamed my life about all the fame
Just to do what you love every single day
And keep pushing forward till that record gets played
Yeah, all my life for just one moment

Verse 2
Ever since I was young, I was always determine to be the best
Whether defined as stubborn or strong willed, I’ve always been put to the test
A dysfunctional family, with so called friends that would definitely rob you blind
I was dealt a bad hand, a long line of people that only know how to lie
So, I’ve overcome every obstacle that this life has thrown at me
It’s been a real long hard journey, but I’m finally where I want to be

Bridge (2x)
I waited all my life for just one moment
Waited to be on the stage and own it
Waited to hear millions scream my name

Better Than This

Better Than This
Lyrics written by Rocky “Da Rock” Gammone
Music written by Vadim Bondar & Rocky “Da Rock Gammone”

Verse 1
I sit here depressed as the days go by
And I’m asking the question why oh why
Why do I try, if I’m always denied
And I can’t even cry, so I hit here and sigh
And I think of the times when I used to smile
But the past only lasts for the blink of an eye
Ironically when it’s bad, I remember so well
As it plays in my mind, it’s this tumor that dwells

Chorus
Why can’t I get rid of it, why won’t it go away
It hurts so bad, but I can’t erase the pain
So this leads to anger, frustration, and hate
Why is life so hard, when do I get my break
It should be better
Better than this
It should be better than this

Verse 2
It’s almost as if I’m not meant to be happy
And the world rejoices, while I sit here so angry
Then for those few moments, maybe a change
Nope, I was only daydreaming, just another day
So I sit here discouraged, I look at the clock
I just missed my chance, I just blew my shot
And the time doesn’t stop, as I stay in one spot
And this is just not the life that I want

Bridge
It should be better
Better than this
Not the life I pictured
It should be better than this

What It's Like

Written By: Rocky Gammone

What It’s Like
Lyrics/Arrangement by Rocky “Da Rock” Gammone

Verse 1
Do you know what it’s like to have a hole in your heart
Do you know what it’s like to be torn apart
Do you know what it’s like to have a permanent scar
This numbness, this pain, through my legs and my arms
Do you know what it’s like to feel like you’re so far
Far away from a place you were raised by your mom
Do you know what it’s like to feel like your brain’s gone
Gone astray, in a way to make to stay calm
Do you know what it’s like to have the spotlight on
When your life is there light, it’s so bright, you’re a star
Do you know what it’s like to feel like your mouth is a bomb
You pop off, they go off, causes all kinds of drama
Do you know what it’s like to feel like you’re the judge of a jury
With that passion, that fury, but you’re the one that is guilty
Do you know what it’s like when your emotions have disappeared
And all you feel is a fear of what really is real

Chorus
It is what it is
And now I wasted all of my time
(It is what it is)
For some reason I was very blind
(It is what it is)
Tell my why they threw me to the ground
(It is what it is)
But just know that I’m done with you now

Verse 2
Do you know what it’s like to feel like your whole life is a tease
The people you deal with, all of the phonies
Do you know what it’s like to lose sight of a dream
You quit, you walk out, you give up everything
Do you know what it’s like to be left to die
The scariest sight is your life flashing before your eyes
Do you know what it’s like to be depressed for no reason
You regret, and you stress, you’re internally bleeding
Do you know what it’s like to wake up and see your tires slashes
With a rock through your window, broken glass, stolen cash
Do you know what it’s like to be jumped, and hit with a pipe
You’re stomped out, you’re beat within an inch of your life
Do you know what it’s like to lose every friend
When they seek to destroy you, and put an end to your rep
Do you know what it’s like to wish that you weren’t alive
To simplify and be done with this terror called life
Do you know what it’s like to feel like you can predict the future
The power to stop what you’re not supposed to undo

Verse 3
Do you know what it’s like to feel like you’re a hypocrite
You claim to be good, but you lie, and become manipulative
Do you know what it’s like to pretend you don’t care
A false act to protect all the hurt from the past
Do you know what it’s like to have a split personality
You’re Jekyll, you’re Hyde, you’ve lost touch on reality
Do you know what it’s like when you can’t get rid of an ex
She calls, and she cries, sends a text, give it a rest
Do you know what it’s like to lose all that you had
I’m glad, no I’m mad, wait, I want it all back
Do you know what it’s like to feel like your whole life is a waste
No matter what you do, they all spit in your face
Do you know what it’s like to be angry all the time
A result of being screwed and sold out left and right
Do you know what it’s like to over think every decision you make
When you already knew the answer the moment the question came your way
Do you know what it’s like when your whole world has come to an end
But you can’t resurrect what’s already been dead
