Bio
Darby Bailey's mother is a school band teacher and drummer. Her father was raised by a traveling movie-salesman from the 1930's. They all knew how to farm and sing at a campfire. Her immediate family consists of nine people, enough for a small circus.
Like the circus, Darby's music will be easy to play in a traveling bandwagon, by a campfire or under the bright lights. Once you get used to tilting your head left three times on the smooth voiced verse, you'll be keen on Darby Bailey's fine-grained, horny rock-pop.
The Eurydice album is from her foray into live music as co-writer and singer/keyboardist for the rock band Eurydice, which toured the Rocky Mountain region and was voted Best Rock Band in a Salt Lake City reader's poll before disbanding.
Ms. Bailey started playing piano at four; with childhood friends at seven; in orchestras, bands, singing groups throughout her teen and college years; she's played the violin, cello, ukelele, xylophone, sax and organ at one-time or another. Sometimes she gets dirty doing it, but she always seems to keep a blue twinkle in her eye.
Currently sequestered in the studio producing her first solo CD (to be released Spring 2009), Ms. Bailey's first set of songs will combine campfire guitar, creamy vocals, big top orchestrals and intimate songwriting.
Darby holds a BA in Creative Writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles and hopes to some day write a musical.
