Bio
D’Arc, a five-piece, Montreal-based pop band, has just released its debut project “A Metaphysical Girl”, a clever and compelling mix of pop hooks, lyrics and harmonies set over a driving rhythm section. The band, consisting of experienced musicians whose musical influences range from Brit pop to jazz funk, blended their differences to create a refreshingly original sound.
Singer / songwriter Silvio and bassist David Vaglio, long time friends and collaborating musicians, began shaping the band’s unique style in 2004 when they asked R&B drummer Erik Gutmanis to complete D’Arc’s core rhythm section. Searching for a “touch of class” they then asked pianist Katherine Trajan to join them as second voice and lead instrument. With Matthieu Goulet, keyboard and multi instrumentalist, “jazzing it up”, they found the final layer they needed to create the complex texture that is D’Arc’s trademark style.
Since recording their debut EP, “A Metaphysical Girl” in early 2005, D’Arc continues to build and promote their new sound. Their recent shows received critical acclaim as high-energy, soulful performances. Committed to building a greater following in their native Montreal, the band is currently focused on songwriting, performance and recording. Then, winning new fans with each performance, D’Arc plans to put this band on the map in 2005.
