Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA, May 12, 2009 - Darci Monet’s resume reads like a Who’s Who of professional musicians. Credits include principle vocal performances in record-smashing independent films (Napoleon Dynamite), hit television shows (How I Met Your Mother) and backup vocals for legendary recording artists (Steve Winwood, Dolly Parton, The Judds, Amy Grant). Also listed are various honors from prestigious songwriting contests (Unisong, Billboard) and songs she has written with writing partner/recording artist Levi Kreis at the helm have enjoyed placements on long-running shows like Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless and The Apprentice. As a vocal coach, Monet’s students have appeared everywhere from Broadway (Rent), national commercials (Choice Hotels), episodic television (24, American Idol) and in L.A.’s hottest clubs (World Famous Roxy, Viper Room). In a career that spans twenty years, Darci Monet has been in the background for its majority.

However, come her next birthday on May 12th, Monet will finally step into the limelight with the release of her highly-anticipated new studio album, Fusion. The project, a “Kelly Clarkson-Eva Cassidy-Ann Wilson sandwich with a side of Aretha,” will be available for purchase both physically and digitally from DarciMonet.com, CDBaby.com and iTunes. Amazon.com, Rhapsody and various other digital music sites are to follow.

With Fusion, Monet has united her two strongest sides as a musician and writer, with a shout-out to the days before information technology took over the music industry. “This project is half ‘rock chick Darci’ and half ‘coffeehouse Darci’,” she explains. “I wanted it to feel like it did when I was a kid and you had to turn the tape over in the middle of the album. So ‘Side A’ is the full band, full production ‘pop/rock-with-a-splash-of-soul’ that people have come to expect from me. ‘Side B’ is my stripped down, acoustic side that, until now, has mostly revealed itself in collaborations I’ve done with other artists.”

Highlights on Fusion feature Monet’s signature gut-busting vocals and several songs co-written with Kreis, including the hook-laden but edgy first single, “Jezebel,” the blues-and-pheromone-drenched “Smoke and Leather” and Monet’s own rendition of their wistful hit ballad, “I Should Go” (which first appeared on Kreis’ critically acclaimed CD One of the Ones). Billboard chart-topping dance/rock artist Debby Holiday lends her writing skills to “Paper Doll” and both Holiday and Kreis contribute gospel-rich choir vocals on the inspirational “Go On,” written by Monet after a visit to Ground Zero in 2006. Fusion was produced in Los Angeles by Steve Gryphon (Avril Lavigne, Gavin DeGraw) and Monet with pre-production in Nashville by Ron Jagger (dc Talk, Michael W. Smith).

Bio

It's a Kelly Clarkson-Eva Cassidy-Ann Wilson sandwich with a side of Aretha.

TALENT IS BACK.

Darci Monet is a classically and commercially trained professional vocalist, vocal coach, independent recording artist and award-winning songwriter. She gave her first professional performance at age eleven in Upstate New York in a local production of "Annie", began her professional career during college at Belmont University in Nashville as a studio singer, songwriter and recording artist and continues now in Los Angeles.

Darci's vocal credits include principal performances in film and television ("Napoleon Dynamite", "How I Met Your Mother"), live performances and master recording sessions with major label artists (Dolly Parton, Steve Winwood, Amy Grant, The Judds, etc.), songwriter demos (ABC sitcom "Hope and Faith") and national ads (Subway Corporation). Live, Darci currently performs backup for top ten Billboard-charting dance diva/rocker Debby Holiday.

Songs she has written have been featured in indie movies and major network television shows ("Kiss The Bride" starring Tori Spelling, "The Apprentice", "The Young & The Restless", "Days of Our Lives"), won awards and honorable mentions in prestigious songwriting competitions (Unisong Songwriting Contest, Great American Song Contest, Billboard Songwriting Contest), and have been cut on major label albums (Music With A Twist, distributed by Columbia).

Stepping out from behind the scenes, Darci has just finished her new CD, which was released on May 12, 2009. Fusion seamlessly brings together "Rock Chick-Darci" and "Coffeehouse-Darci," like a Kelly Clarkson, Eva Cassidy and Ann Wilson sandwich with a side of Aretha. She explains, “This project represents what I feel are the two strongest sides of me as a musician and writer. I decided that if I was going to take on the monumental task of recording an album again, I’d want both sides represented. So, ‘side A’ is the full band, full production pop/rock with a splash of soul I’m already known for. ‘Side B’ represents the quiet side that before now has mostly revealed itself in collaborations I’ve done on other artists’ projects.” Tracks featured on the album were written with Levi Kreis (on whose critically acclaimed albums One of the Ones and The Gospel According to Levi she is prominently featured as a writer and vocalist), Debby Holiday, Jeff Fedak, Chris Mitchell and Brandon Harvey. Fusion was produced by Darci and Steve Gryphon (Avril Lavigne, Gavin DeGraw, Debby Holiday), with pre-production by Ron Jagger (Michael W. Smith, dc Talk).

As a vocal coach, Darci's studio is exclusive and she accepts students by audition only. Darci's clients have appeared in national commercials, on Broadway, L.A.'s best clubs and everywhere in between. She also utilizes her coaching expertise as the author of the popular web column "A Working Musician's Review", in which she reviews contestants' performances on shows like "American Idol." She also sits as head judge for "Fame," L.A.'s best singing competition hosted by promoter Mario Pescatore.

Darci is SAG-eligible and her publishing company, Songs From The Fortress, is registered with BMI.

"Fusion" and "My Own Road" can be purchased physically and digitally at DarciMonet.com, CDBaby.com, iTunes and various other online retailers.
