D'Arcstarr

D'Arcstarr was formed when one of New York's most prolific Reggae musicians and vocalists Michael Arcangel spotted a video of reggae/DUB band The Psychiatrists playing live on youtube. He approached band member and guitarist of The Psychiatrists Dan Austin about joining him in a project he's been wanting to assemble for some time that would be conscious rebel Reggae music. After realizing they both had the same ambitions in the sound they wanted to create Michael and Dan set upon making their own unique blend of reggae music The bands sound has many influences from Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Jacob Miller, U-Roy, Barrington Levy, Sugar Minott,The Wailing Souls, Many Studio-1 Artists, Lee Perry, Augustus Pablo, Prince Jammy and countless other artists from all walks and works of music that spread a message in their lyrics and sound. Michael's voice and lyrics are a rich delivery of conscious thought provoking words blended with a perfect vocal sound that sits on heavy rhythms that blend into spacial open air dubs rich in sound created by Dan's distinctive musical playing and knob twisting in the studio. Currently D'Arcstarr is in the studio making music with Aston Barrett Jr (The Wailers) and Alaina Reed (BAD Lion). You can hear their 1st recording on the song 'Hold On'.
