Bio

Darkest Generation (a.k.a DG or GXNXRVTION) is a young hip hop collective based in Frisco, Texas, north of Dallas. The group consists of Joseph Almendarez (Jojo), Alex Serrato ($$C), Nigel, Jean-Claude Faa (JC). Jojo and Alex, the founder, saw a massive gap between real hip hop and what is often played on the radio, and discovered that he was surrounded by skilled lyricists who shared similar views of the rap game. In general, Frisco's taste in music is somewhat unique, compared to that of its surroundings. The majority of teenagers, including the members of DG are interested in lyrical hip hop, both old and new. Darkest Generation's rappers are inspired by the likes of Immortal Technique, Nas, Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, Underachievers, Biggie, Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Wu-Tang, A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar. .
Darkest Generation's vision is to attempt to bring something different, something artistic, to the general “South Side” gangsta style of rap, dominated by such legends as T.I. and Young Jeezy. They mix East Coast/Underground lyricism with various chillstep, trunk, indie or trap beats. DG's debut mixtape, Hieroglyphics (which has become very popular in North Frisco, Oak Cliff and Little Elm), demonstrates the crew's ability to spit true prose and poetry on any style of beat. “We are attempting to expand the fan base of hip-hop and rap music so that poets, rockers, pop-enthusiasts, and electro-connoisseurs can all enjoy”, JC points out. Darkest Generation envisions joining the "BeastCoast Movement" and inspiring other lyricists to arise from the South Side.
