Bio
Dark Hip Falls is a dark, moody rock band from Seattle, Washington, drawing comparisons to bands such as Radiohead, The National, and St. Vincent. Their debut album, Seventy Four, is a work that explores the divergence between sparseness and raucous noise, as well as the restrained tensions that build from desperation, oppression, hysteria and guilt.
Upon its release, Seventy Four has received favorable reviews from Seattle Weekly, Back Beat Seattle Blog, Northwest Music Scene Blog and many others, and has spawned a popular music video for the song Cocaine Design featuring acclaimed Seattle drag performer, Cherdonna Shinatra. Their song Lifecast was selected as the song of the week by KZME in Gresham, Oregon in February of 2014.
Dark Hip Falls is one of those rare bands that can make sparseness interesting... - Seattle Weekly
If an album the caliber of Seventy Four was to be the final destination, then all the detours were worthwhile. - Northwest Music Scene
Sparsely lush pop rock instrumentation sets off the lead singers haunting voice like a gem. - KZME
