Bio
Late-night songwriting marathons and a shared love of horror movie atmospherics begat what would become Darkness Brings the Cold. Started by lyricist/vocalist Dennis Hellman and guitarist Shawn Baker, the two friends recorded seven albums before bassist Jeremy Muzika and drummer Dave Tavares (formerly with Chicago scene-staple Tub Ring) joined and the live configuration of Darkness Brings the Cold was born. Since then, the band has been converting the old songs into the live environment and working on new material. Influences such as Black Sabbath, Danzig, Tool, Mike Patton, The Cure, Romero, Argento, David Lynch ... the list goes on. Call it heavy music with intelligence, savior faire, and a flare for the theatrical.
