This hard working Heavy/Alternative power trio which who certainly know one thing about music. Play it LOUD and play it HARD. They are known as Dark Sunrise.
Clayton Le Mee, who hails from Hamilton, is the lead singer and guitarist who creates the wicked riffs and lyrics, and with the other members cranks out some of the best tunes in the region. Clayton has trained under Ron Wilkinson for guitar theory and Ray Lyell for vocal training. He has been part of such bands as Wisecrack, Torx, Distortion Cable, The Innerchild, Seedless, Hold The Light, and Pushin’ Steel. Clayton's major influences have been Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Darrel Abbot (Pantrea), Chris Cornell (Soundgarden), Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix.
Jeff Lazeo also hails from the steel town and can bang out some of the wildest bass lines that can be created on a 4 and a 5 string. Jeff studied music with Toronto's Joel Morelli for two years. It was here that he learned the basics for both bass and electric guitar. He has also studied music for two summers in Whitehorse, YT with Danette Readman, and Rob "Roxx" Hunter. His largest bass influence by far is Les Claypool, as the primus bass players technique is what had originally inspired Jeff to pick up a bass and play. Other influences include Mike "Flea" Balzary (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Victor Wooten and Stu Hamm.
Dan Prosia is also a Hamiltonian and is the main reason why Dark Sunrise is becoming known as one of the loudest bands from the area. Dan studied music for 4 years at Mohawk College and was taught by Anthony Michelli. He has also played in several other local bands, such as High On the Downside, Misnomer, and Narcosis. Dan's influences over the years include bands like Nirvana, Tool, System of a Down, Soundgarden, the Mars Volta, the Police, Blind Melon and the Baby Shambles, just to name a few.
Dark Sunrise is quickly getting known as one of the hardest working bands in Canada.
