Darlene Koldenhoven: "Heavenly Peace" (TimeArt) A lush, semi-classical collection of Christmas songs, ranging from traditional carols to Andrew Lloyd Webber and original pieces. - New Age Magazine

"Infinite Voice Reviews"

"She truly does have an outstanding voice. Oftentimes I look for what I call 'the voice of angels' for the channel. Well, I certainly found one in Darlene. She truly is incredible."
–Russ Davis, Program Director, XM Satellite Radio AudioVisions Playlist
Now playing Infinite Voice Tracks 2,3,6,10,11

"Darlene’s singing has always been full of remarkable versatility, and this project is no exception. Her unique approach to these pieces are what sets her apart from the rest of the field. Check out the Delibes Flower Duet from “Lakme”...in addition to her beautiful instrument, her stamp of originality is indelible on both versions. And we get to hear her on both parts! “The Infinite Voice” is aptly named....(it could also have been called “infinite creativity,” “infinite technique,” and “infinite curiosity.”)
–Dave Grusin, Oscar winning Film Composer - The Milagro Beanfield War and multi-Oscar nominee;
multi-Grammy winner and multi-Grammy nominee; Arranger, Pianist, Recording Artist

"Sublime. This is singing and artistry of the highest order. There is a purity and an honesty here that is seldom found these days. The technical refinement of Miss Koldenhoven's voice is without question. More importantly, there is an emotional integrity to her performances that is her most distinguishing quality. This album is a must for anyone with ears and a soul."
–Jeremy Lubbock, Grammy winning Composer, Arranger, Awakening, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Sting

"If everyone started the day listening to Darlene Koldenhoven’s Infinite Voice, there would be no savage beast left un-soothed on the planet."
–Stephanie Dubois, Beck/Smith (nationally syndicated entertainment newspaper column)

"This, her newest classical crossover album, demonstrates her extraordinary five-octave vocal range and angelic, soul-soaring notes. A sublime, inspiration album."
–Richard Giles, Nexus Magazine, April-May, 2007 worldwide

"Darlene is one of a kind. She owns the vocal stratosphere, making the upper musical notes soft, light and luminous, like a beautifully lit cloud. And, like all great artists, Darlene makes the difficult seem natural and effortless. I know the joy of hearing her voice bring my own music to life. What a feeling! Truly a gift from God!"
–Charles Bernstein, Emmy winning Film Composer - Little Miss Perfect; multi-Emmy nominee;
A Nightmare on Elm Street, Cujo, Love At First Bite; Author-Film Music

“Her intricate blend of classical elements and World genres is mesmerizing as well as a feast for the spirit.”
–RJ Lannan, New Age Reporter

"Darlene is an extraordinary singer. She effortlessly creates the voice you hope angels really sound like . . . There seems to be no limit to her range, and she is the role model for the right way to use the voice . . . I am in awe of her consummate musicianship, keen sense of style, and simply that great sound! . . . a lovely CD."
–Ian Freebairn-Smith, KCSN “Morning Classical” Radio Host, Grammy winning arranger, composer

“Darlene Koldenhoven has a rich, full, and beautiful voice. Her sound blends perfectly with this mix of classical opera, newer music from film scores to Sting, and original music—all beautifully arranged. To find pure human vocal magic, look no further.”
–New Age Retailer Magazine, “Play List Staff Picks,” Holiday 2007
- Various Magazines and Media

"Darlene's Talent as Educator"

"If I could choose only one person to bring to campus, it would be Darlene Koldenhoven. Her combination of talent, beauty, top-level entertainment experience, and commitment to things of value is exactly what our students need to see and know about. She will, I believe, inspire many young people to seek the kinds of careers that can make a difference in our world. 'Keys to the World' goes immediately to number one on the Briner play list.” - —Bob Briner, Author of "Roaring Lambs", President ProServ Television, Dallas, TX

"Darlene as Director/Performer Free to Serve Multi-Media Concert Tour"

"Our traveling road show required her to work with seven different amateur adult and children's choirs in many locations around the US and Canada. (One choir was 650 high school students and 150 elementary students!) She was universally liked and the choirs did things for her none of us thought were possible. Her work with these choirs as teacher, director, and choir choreographer was simply excellent. She knows how to inspire and motivate people for 5 to 85 years old and get them involved. She handles people form other cultures extremely well in spite of language barriers. She spent nine days in Sierra Leone, West Africa auditioning singers, listening to and selecting their songs, assisting in their arrangements, teaching them some vocal technique, singing in harmony, and choreography. She worked intensively with the seven singers and musicians and not only helped them to create a truly memorable part of the show but did so in such a way that they grew to deeply respect and care for her - and she them."

- --Peter Vander Meulen,?Producer, Free to Serve, Coordinator for Social Justice and Hunger Action for

"Darlene as Sister Act actress, music director, vocal coach"

“It is often my job to round up superbly talented individuals who can work together at the high level which Disney demands. Darlene Koldenhoven is certainly one whose talents we hope to draw upon again and again. We engaged Darlene to assist marc Shaiman in contracting, coaching, and rehearsing vocalists for the current hit “Sister Act.” Her contributions to the music was noticed early on by director Emile Ardolino who promptly made her a cast member and took her on the road…I fully expect that Darlene’s services will soon be put to good use all over town.” - —Andy Hill, Director, Music Production & Administration, Walt Disney Pictures

"Editor's Pic "Heavenly Peace" Best Holiday CD"

"HEAVENLY PEACE, by Darlene Koldenhoven. Koldenhoven is best known as the soprano in Yanni's 'Aria' at the Acropolis. She also works as a songwriter. Some of her songs recorded by the likes of B.B. King. This CD features four traditional Christmas selections (such as "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "Silent night"). Four original by Koldenhoven, one lesser-known carol, and Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu." Largely synthesized accompaniment, with violin, flute, oboe, recorder, world percussion and contemporary vocal accents make this presentation anything but traditional. I especially enjoyed the quiet dignity of "Angels Pastorale" and the sparsely glittered "Pie Jesu." Acrobatic New Age vocals and electronics give this recording distinction, making it a likely winner." -SM - NAPRA ReView

"Presenter/Promoter Reviews"

"We billed Darlene Koldenhoven as, 'Sings like an angel,' and that is exactly what she did. We were in heaven."

Dear Fellow Presenter:

I would like to take this opportunity to recommend a rather remarkable and gifted artist, Darlene Koldenhoven.

I booked Darlene as part of our city’s Friday concert series, after catching her showcase at the Western Arts Alliance conference in 2007. Though the conditions surrounding the showcase were less than ideal, her extraordinary talent shown through, impressing those in attendance with a knock out five octave vocal range. I knew then that I had to include her in our season of events. In October 2008, she took our stage and our audience by storm! I’ve been in the presenting field for thirty years, and it is a rare thing for me to be truly wowed by an artist, but Darlene has that kind of talent. The fall evening that she graced our stage made for an experience our audiences and our staff will not soon forget. Her vocal skill, her easy rapport with the audience, her range gave attendees the sense of witnessing an event happening before them, and watching them literally on the edge of their seats totally enthralled by the artist was an exciting and wondrous thing to behold.

All of us in presenting, look for the exceptional, that special artistic something that will stay with our audiences long after the last note or word or movement leaves the stage. Darlene Koldenhoven is that kind of “special”.

"When former (Sister Act) choir nun Darlene Koldenhoven let loose a piercing high note near the end of her performance, it may have been the only time in history that an opera singer’s rapturous crowd response was led by someone in the audience yelling . . . !"

Hollywood, CA –January 10, 2008 –– In the midst of American Idol madness is a life preserver for “all voices.” Tune Your Voice: Singing and the Mind’s Musical Ear by Grammy winner and 3 time nominee, Darlene Koldenhoven, is an remarkable new (help yourself) music education book with 7 instructional CDs to train the mind’s musical ear, helping people of all ages and levels to think musically. Notes Koldenhoven, “The book is essential to being able to sing in tune, sing in harmony, play any instrument by ear, compose music, understand and enjoy music more. An added bonus of working with Tune Your Voice is an increase in one’s general listening perception. Sharper listening skills help focus and organize the mind, assist with memory, reading, spelling, speech, the tone of one’s voice, learning another language and more. At last, a program to help the pitch challenged individuals as well as professionals. Now ANYONE can sing!”

Tune Your Voice is designed to train your brain to audiate (to think musically) both consciously and sub-consciously to help make the learning process quick and fun. There are 5 ‘Teaching’ CDs with verbal instructions spoken by Ms. Koldenhoven and exercises to sing along with; 1 ‘Singing’ CD with 24 vocal exercises to develop the coordinating singing muscles; and 1 ‘Listening’ CD (unique to most programs) to expedite the learning process. Tune Your Voice comes in High or Low versions and is highly organized yet simple to use; just start with the first CD and follow along. No prior musical experience is necessary. Individuals, home-school & classroom teachers, and volunteer choirs can use Tune Your Voice. Even the entire family will have fun learning the foundations of music: melody, rhythm, harmony, scales, intervals & chords, and all around good singing. It also develops and refines the skills of the naturally talented singer.

Tune Your Voice receives high praise from Debra Byrd, vocal coach for American Idol and Canadian Idol; Greg Knowles, music professor at The Juilliard School; Daniel Carlin, Chair Emeritus of The Recording Academy (The GRAMMYS) & Dean of Film Composition at Berklee; Lis Lewis, vocal coach for TV’s Rock Star Supernova; Don Campbell, author of The Mozart Effect, Ira Newborn, film composer and Clinical Professor of Film Scoring at New York University; “Music Connection Magazine;” and Andy Hill, Director of Music Composition for Screen at Columbia College Chicago.

Ms. Koldenhoven created the comprehensive Tune Your Voice after years of research and teaching thousands of students – from the pitch challenged to professionals, even American Idol contestants – how to sing well. "Singing is a learned experience,” Koldenhoven remarks, “and often, people are afraid to open themselves to the uplifting energy of singing and the powers of music; or they haven’t been exposed to a musical vocabulary early on. I enjoy motivating people and I would like everyone to share in the wonderful feelings and healthy benefits one gets from singing. By creating the Tune Your Voice program, it allows me to reach everyone, empowering them to enhance the quality of their life by experiencing the joy and nurturing effects of singing, understanding and appreciating music. It's like they have their very own personal voice and music coach with Tune Your Voice.”

Ms. Koldenhoven holds a Master’s degree in Voice magna cum laude and Bachelors Degree in Music Education and has been on the voice faculties of UCLAx, CSUN, CSLA, & Citrus College, California. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Among her plethora of credits, Ms. Koldenhoven is known world-wide for her featured solo vocal in the PBS special, Yanni, Live at the Acropolis DVD (6 times platinum); as a beloved choir nun and real life vocal coach/musical director for both Sister Act films with Whoopi Goldberg; many on-camera singing appearances on shows such as Studio 60, 3 American Idol specials, The Young and the Restless; and recently brought the house down with her solo in DIVAS Simply Singing.

Ms. Koldenhoven’s new CD Infinite Voice (her 4th on TimeArt® Recordings) is a magnificent masterpiece of musicianship and performance consisting of 12 classical crossover vocal compositions with New Age, Smooth Jazz and World Music influences. BIOGRAPHY:

What sets Darlene Koldenhoven, this beautiful tall blond Grammy® Award winner and three-time nominee, apart from the rest . . . It could be her worldwide 1.5 billion viewing audience on PBS as the memorable vocal soloist in Yanni, Live at the Acropolis . . . It could be her work in the war-torn jungles of Sierra Leone, West Africa where she met and coached musicians and singers whom she took on her tour of the US and Canada . . . Or the fact that she is one of the few classically trained singers with a five-octave range who vocally improvises in classical and non-classical styles, produces, composes, arranges, plays keyboards, and writes lyrics . . . Or even, perhaps it’s her ability to create and produce in less than a year, her new album, Infinite Voice, a magnificent masterpiece of musicianship and performance, while authoring and publishing an innovative, comprehensive music education book with 7 instructional CDs to train the mind’s musical ear and teach people how to sing entitled, "Tune Your Voice."

At the core of her remarkable musical gifts is a voice for the ages. Angelically clear and expressively strong, Ms. Koldenhoven’s soul-stirring voice is a mesmerizing wonder, the touch of a celestial goddess on the souls of all. This is the woman who brings all people together from classical purists and jazz hipsters, Christians, New Agers, to rockers and video gamers. Ms. Koldenhoven has appeared on-camera singing: with Robin Williams in the Academy Awards 2000; The Young and the Restless; Studio 60; in three American Idol specials; and as the beloved tambourine-waving choir nun and real life vocal coach/musical director of both Sister Act films with Whoopi Goldberg. Darlene’s voice has graced a plethora of albums from pop giants Barbra Streisand and Rod Stewart to jazz legend Ramsey Lewis to progressive rock icons Pink Floyd to soloing with London’s Royal Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to singing for President Clinton. Some of her recent vocal contributions include rocker Neil Young’s Living With War CD, the new Oasis CD, feature film Horton Hears a Who and a song with her ethnically diverse children’s choir (Young Vocal Artists of Los Angeles) by rapper/producer will.i.am (of the group Black Eyed Peas) for the soundtrack of the 2007 film Freedom Writers (starring Hilary Swank). And she gets major “cool points” with young people for her soaring vocals on the video games Baldur’s Gate (for Sony PlayStation II) and Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets.

With all of that and much more ground zero work in the film, television, session and touring industries filling her resume, one would marvel that Ms. Koldenhoven has any time left for anything else. Yet this prolific and multi-talented singer has done just that with her fourth album, Infinite Voice, Best Vocal Album and #1 on the Radio Charts and Best Vocal Album of 2007. Inf
