Oklahoma native, daRome Bentley moved to Atlanta to pursue his dream of being a recording artist. Becoming a finalist at the Georgia Music Industry Association Songwriting Competition as well as the International Songwriting Competition, that dream came to fruition. This soul crooner has worked his magic onstage at various Atlanta music hubs such as The Apache Café and The Earth Link Live, and has been afforded the opportunity to open for such acts as Joe, Next, and K-Ci and JoJo. All of that hard has paid off in dividends, as he has recently his own solo release, Ever Endeavor.daRome’s Ever Endeavor proves once again that good R & B is not dead, and today’s gems with the music industry are being found more and more in the independent arena. The 12-track soul collection opens with “Back When,” which has that Mario Winans-type feel as daRome remembers back when life was good. He also shows off his pleasant harmonies and chord changes with this track. An album highlight is the song entitled “Beauty (your smile).” Within this track, daRome’s overall sound really opens wide with the full, layered harmonies and robust vocalizations. Another strong selection is the duet dubbed “Collide”, which features a vocal assist from Bernard Jackson. daRome shows that even though he sharing the microphone, he knows how to blend his vocal stylings with others, as well as come to the forefront of a track. R&B: Folks, don't be fooled by the major radio stations and the stuff they force-feed the masses. There are some great Indies (independent artists / labels) out there who are putting out great music! One such talent is newcomer daRome Bentley. His new release (on the Soulective Enterprise label) titled "Ever Endeavor" is straight up hot. daRome combines a smooth voice with top-notch production and gives you simply good music. Right off the top, on 'Back When', he reminisces about days gone by. (Check the piano lick on this joint!) Other hot tracks include Café, 'Spiritual Healin' and 'Baby aint". Another burner is 'Aboutchu', that has a contemporary beat, yet an old school Stevie Wonder feel to it! Last, my two favorites are 'Beauty (your smile)' and 'Brown Like Hennesy'. 'Beauty', to me, is a great song in that it goes against standard convention with its dissonant chords, yet pulls it off very nicely. Then, 'Brown' (despite the title being somewhat juvenile, i.e., "you remind me of my jeep") relays a good message and shows that you can describe or compliment someone without today's seemingly obligatory body part examination. It will be a shame if this CD doesn't make a commercial splash, but don't let that deter you from adding some very good music to your collection from a strong, young artist! In an industry flourished with soul artist, daRome has emerged as one of Soul Music's elite.
Listening to darome you'll find his vibe smooth as his looks. Artist, actor, writer, producer and vocal arranger he wears all these titles well. "Writing from the Soul is what makes a real soul artist". daRome started out in church singing and later toured in R/B groups opening for acts such as K-Ci & JOJO, NEXT and JOE. He then later moved to Atlanta to persue his dream as a solo artist. He's worked with super producer dallas Austin as a intern and demo artist for a short while before releasing his own debut album.
This Oklahoma native now resides in Atlanta Georgia, the next Motown of the south. daRome has proven himself as a songwriter and performer. He has successfully competed in songwriting competitions as a finalist in GMIA (Georgia Music Industry Associations) Songwriting Competition and The International Songwriting Competition against thousands of other artist.
Live performances from daRome are so electrifyingly, charismatic and powerfully souldrenched from the heart, it often leaves fans and music lovers with an unforgettable aesthetic punch in the heart!! He has blessed some of Atlanta's hottest venues and Festivals such as Atlantis Music Conferences, The Velvet Room,Club 908, Earth Link Live and at ATL's infamous Apache Café.
