"Friends in all places"

Besides being an alumnus of Fred Eaglesmith's band, Roger Marin's stints as a sideman read like a Rough Guide to Roots Music: Willie Nelson, Junior Brown, Del McCoury, Delbert McClinton, Darrek Anderson... Er, hold up - who's that last one again?
Darrek Anderson: indie singer-songwriter, formerly of The Guaranteed, newest addition to The Swiftys, citizen of Edmonton.
Thanks to the camaraderie one develops with kindred spirits on the road, Anderson is in the enviable position of securing high calibre talent to back him on the recording he has in the works in St. Catherine's. - Edmonton Journal, Zoltan Varadi

"Root Down: Guaranteed satisfaction"

"...The Old Routine, Anderson's debut album, and people should be thankful to have all eight outstanding tracks available for their listening pleasure. Each song erupts from a totally personal and unique corner of Anderson's world- and he doesn't skimp on the details." - VUE Weekly, Jenny Feniak

"Root Down: The Anderson Tapes"

"Born in Southern Ontario to the family of a long-haul trucker, Anderson has always turned to the open road to procure the new experiences which he in turn uses as inspiration for some of the most sincere and well-crafted songwriting around.........the resulting album sounds fantastic," - VUE Weekly, Jenny Feniak

"Places You Used to Go"

Produced by Roger Marin of the Fred Eaglesmith band and co-produced by Shawn Jonasson of The Swiftys. Darrek Anderson's debut disc is hard-rocking, alt-country fare.
The guitars have that bassy, big-bar-room roar, somewhere between The Who and Ryan Adams. It's basic, honest, no-frills country rock, designed to set either university dorm running shoes or cowboy boots stomping in time.
With heart-busting lyrics like, "I left with your address and a full tank of gas, left with the feeling I was getting you back, found nothin' wish I could but I can't," it's a drinkin' and hurtin' record. A solid debut for Anderson with, hopefully, much more to follow. - Penguin Eggs, Barry Hammond

"live reviews - The Guaranteed @ the Ironwood"

...Anderson is a terrific songwriter and the band was tight playing a straight up night of old fashioned country with twang rock thrown in for good measure.
Watching men in cowboy shirts play music that would make my daddy proud is always a thrilling departure from the non-melody driven noise of riot bands. Solid sounds, a good vibe and gifted songwriting..... - BEAT ROUTE Magazine, Shannon Anderson
