R & B and Pop Singer / song writer extraordinaire, Darren (DB) Batteast grew up listening to a wide range of soul music. From classic Motown visionaries to modern superstars, music has become his medium for expressing his take on life, love and lost. As a child he would sit on his late father’s lap and listen to an unorthodox mixture of albums. Their father and son playlist consisted of Hits from: Phil Collins, Al Green, The Beatles, Marvin Gay, Prince, The Temptations, Michel Jackson, Sting, and Frankie Beverly and Maze to name a few. He began writing songs after the death of his father. During that dark time artist such as D' Angelo and Bilal showed him that life isn't always a love song; sometimes you talk about the dark to appreciate the light. Darren B is making a niche for himself by blending catchy hooks, club worthy beats and captivating lyrics all while maintaining the authenticity of their R&B and Soul Roots.
