Blending the best aspects of blues, rock n' roll, and punk, Darren Deicide creates a unique sound that is vibrant and propelling yet dark and ominous. - Old Nick Magazine

"Horns Magazine Jun. 21, 2017"

New Jersey's Devil, Darren Deicide, is back with a new full length album [, The Blues Non Est Mortuum,] that's hotter than hellfire...The sound is refreshingly raw, with very little overdubs, so what you hear is mostly pure blues magic. - Horns Magazine

"Sister Dorothy's Music Blog Apr. 23, 2017"

[Darren] Deicide takes the blues to a new level in [The Blues Non Est Mortuum]!...Not to mention Deicide rocks on the guitar! This album is unique and awesome, true art I would say. - Sister Dorothy's Music Blog

"Kent Manthie, Independent Review"

His singing has a plaintive cry; a mix of blues with a streak of something ominous, some sort of vague, yet tantalizing danger with a no-holds-barred, sonic intensity...[Darren] Deicide really is in a class all by himself; I can't think of any modern act to whom I could compare him. - Independent Review

"Old Style Music Nights"

With [The Blues Non Est Mortuum], Darren Deicide proves that the blues sure aren’t dead. This charismatic juke joint hip cat from Jersey City provides us with a fine piece of wax that doesn’t only sound great, but also comes in a stunning full-colour sleeve with a big-ass eight-page booklet. - Old Style Music Nights

"The Biggest Letdown"

Darren Deicide has released his first vinyl entitled "Bomb This Joint", and you'd all better buy a copy! This two-song record is just what you need to get into a darker, more intense blues singer/songwriter. - The Biggest Letdown

"Rocktimes"

I like [The Jersey Devil is Here] more and more when I listen to it, but not because it's 'nice to hear', but more because of the authenticity of this guy. 'The Jersey Devil Is Here' is unusual! Not beautiful, but wicked and loud! - Rocktimes

"Groove Magazine"

And the sound is great, or, I mean, the sound is abrupt, inspired and dirty - just like it should be. He does it better than many others. It makes me quite curious... - Groove Magazine

"Reviewer Magazine"

[The Jersey Devil is Here] really is a worthwhile and captivating event that devoted fans as well as those looking for something new and unique to feast on will eat up like mad. - Reviewer Magazine

"rootstime.be"

The real devil can start worrying, because the competition from New Jersey is doing a damn fine job on [The Jersey Devil is Here]. - rootstime.be

"Antimusic.com"

Deicide has a fondness for the blues and the attitude of a punk, causing 'Bomb This Joint' to sound like something Joe Strummer might have written had he been raised in the Mississippi Delta. - Antimusic.com

"The Doughnut"

The energy of Hasil Adkins, the presence of Robert Johnson, but the tortured delivery of Daniel Johnston. - The Doughnut

"Infernal Ink Magazine, Vol. 2, Issue 2, April 2013"

His voice is full of rock n' roll piss and vinegar...His playing is full of jagged guitar riffs, and it's all in all a good time. - Infernal Ink Magazine

Bio

"If any proof is needed that the power of blues is easier to find than ever, look no further than Darren Deicide," says The Aquarian Weekly. "Surprisingly rugged and rich...Darren Deicide brings more danger to rock n' roll with a single blues lick and a few moments of your time than most contemporary bands do over the course of a tour," says Jersey Beat, who goes on to say, "Darren Deicide’s music is akin to doing shots with the devil himself-it is more than a little frightening and you know the night will end badly, the question is just how badly." Internationally touring artist and ordained Church of Satan priest, Darren Deicide, is an atheist critic and maverick of his own high-energy outsider roots music that acknowledges tradition while treading its own path through the contemporary world. He is also one half of the gothic-Americana duo, The Wedding Funeral, and an accomplished swing dancer.
