Bio

Meet Darren Hanible

Born and raised in the Nation’s Capital, Darren Hanible, 21, is a promising hip-hop artist who learned to express himself through the strings of his guitar, keys of the piano and beats on a drum. As an adolescent, music motivated Darren to overcome his constant struggle as the son of two drug-addicted parents, who abandoned him. At the age of 13, Darren was adopted by his grandparents and devoted his free time toward his undeniable music abilities, becoming a producer, and later, a lyricist at age 15. His goal? Through music, to someday seize dreams that didn’t always seem possible.

Darren Hanible describes his music as being the middle ground between mainstream and backpack rap, with honest lyrics about everyday life, having faith, overcoming obstacles and his experiences in the nightlife scene. As a youth, Darren learned to play eight instruments, including the piano, drums, guitar and saxophone, and honed his crafts in his church and school marching and jazz bands.

While playing in a performance at Laurel High School, representatives from a program called First Generation College Bound noticed Darren’s talent and motivated the young musician to enroll in Bowie State University. Darren added more talents to his creative portfolio, including graphic and web design and video production.

Currently, Darren Hanible is in the studio working with the musical powerhouse, House Studio DC and legendary Producer Chucky Thompson. He has also begun to film, edit, and direct his own music videos and the videos of many artists on the scene in his area. He released his seventh mixtape, “The Prixx-Tape” on May 15, 2013 to pave the way for his upcoming album entitled “XX” or (Twenty). “XX” includes production credits and features by multi-talented Producer Y.B. and artists Lightshow and Matt McGee. The release date is to be determined.

Darren Hanible will become an important new voice in hip-hop, representing Washington, DC well with an infectious sound influenced by Andre 3000, Kanye West and Lil Wayne. He possesses a deep knowledge of music instrumentation and production with a new-school meets O.G. flow that offers a sense of nostalgia for true hip-hop fans.
