Bio

For the last ten years, Darren has been a fixture on the Canadian blues and roots scene - working with the likes of Amos Garrett, Tim Williams, Jim Byrnes,John Lee Sanders, and The Blind Boys of Alabama to name a few. His songwriting is simple, yet deals with everyday situations for everyday people. His sound is a throwback to yesteryear.

Howard "Schmenge" Chapman started taking accordion lessons in 1960 and attended the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto from 1974 to 1976 getting his Grade 10 on the Accordion. Afterwards he migrated from the more traditional accordion fare of Latin and European music to playing the Blues with Back Alley John until 2006.

Jeremy Edwardes first began recording professionally for CBC radio in 1975 as a harmonica virtuoso. He has a long career in film, theatre and music starting on television in the early 1960's. He has performed on Academy Award winning films such as the NFB's Ryan as well as live venues like the Lincoln Center in NYC. He plays Bass Clarinet in the trio but also plays a number of different instruments.

Schmenge met Jeremy Edwardes in Calgary in January of 2012. He introduced Jeremy to Darren at the Blues Can on January 9th 2012 and the attached video was recorded by an audience member. This was the first time they played together. Since then they have had the opportunity to prepare some pieces and our now planning a tour for the summer of 2013.
