Biography

Dart The Monkey (DTM) was formed via a Facebook reconciliation between primary school friends, Paul Andrews (vocals/guitar) and Fezaan Sayed aka Fez (lead guitarist) who hadn’t seen each other in over 10 years. After meeting up and discussing that each found a shared love of making music, they instantly started jamming together and writing songs back in 2008. After writing some material, they recruited mutual friend Tom Davey to play on drums before eventually finding bassist Theo Gelernter through a band website on the internet. With each band members distinct and varied tastes ranging from Bon Jovi to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to Green Day, DTM has formed a unique sound, characterised by bringing back the lead guitar driven rock sounds of the 1980's and ear splitting guitar solos in the vein of bands such as Guns N Roses and Metallica, yet fusing them with the rhythm sounds of pop groups such as Oasis and Jimmy Eat World givng the band a classic yet contemporary touch . So here we have a blend of classic hard rock merging with 90’s pop to create the quintessential DTM sound. This has been demonstrated very effectively as the band has been chosen specifically over other artists in the last two years to play at festivals at various Universities and whose first ever gig was a 3 hour show on New Years Eve. The band has always been well recieved wherever they play as their music stands out with its anthemic and sing along qualities for a young crowd and the musical diversity for the experienced, music loving old timers. DTM are young, hungry and eager to take over the world with their music. Its everyhting from technical and emotional to catchy and fun. Every song is written by the band who try write everyhting from heavy rock to soft, to funk or tender acoustic ballads. DTM pride themselves on their diversity in their songwriting and ability to attract a crowd. Not even a major car accident involving 3 of the members (whose car was smashed by a bus) at the start of 2010 will stop them from making music and presenting it to the world.
