Bio
With comparisons to Blue Rodeo and James Taylor, Ottawa-native Daryl Lamoureux takes the stage at honky-tonk hot spot, The Dakota Tavern, with a subtle confidence. It is when he breaks into one of his well crafted, alt-country tinged songs that it becomes apparent; Daryl Lamoureux has a voice.
It is this night, January 16th, 2008, that Lamoureux hosted the CD Release Party for his long awaited album, “Ain’t Goin’ Home”. A diverse crowd of west-side hipsters, urban cowboys (and girls), and fellow Canadian musicians filled the downtown Toronto tavern to help celebrate the event.
Taking many of his thematic and lyrical influences from singer-songwriters such as Gram Parsons, Jackson Browne, and Ryan Adams, Daryl tackles subjects like self-doubt, grief and acceptance. It is easy to hear that these songs come from a deeply personal place within him, and multiple listens reveal layers of emotional depth with undertones of optimism and hope.
