A lot of people now-a-days claim to have next, but who really has next? Dat Boi P is celebrating his birthday by releasing his newest single “Fresh Fade” which he produced himself. His latest project “WHO? Da Mixtape” was hosted by Klassik CEO, Dj 7Thirty, and Fleet DJs out of Atlanta, Georgia. South Carolina has finally found hope within the rap community. Dat Boi P was born Calvin in Union, South Carolina at the Wallace Thompson Hospital on November 12, 1992. As a youngster, he moved to Columbia at the age of 3 with his mother. Eventually he would return to Union. Even though he has stayed various places throughout the county he was born and raised most of his life in Peakeville or as many would call it “Peake Town”. He is currently Independent with his family’s own imprint Hill Fam Entertainment. Hill Fam is not just a group, but a generation of family under the late Susie May Hill and King Albert Hill. Pulling influences from artists like Tupac Shakuar, Notorious BIG, Run DMC, Yo Gotti, Ronald Isley and Jay-Z, by the time he was 16, he released his first mixtape. Dat Boi P released one of his hottest singles to date “Jig” on iTunes back in September. A video was shot for it by So Clean Visuals Productions out of Greenville, South Carolina. But the record itself has been receiving airplay in over 20+ markets including Alabama and Los Angeles since December of 2011 despite the fact that he recorded it in his college apartment during his freshman year at USC Upstate. He also receives 100% of all radio and film royalties from BMI since he does his own production and publishing. Not only is he a solo artist, he is also a upcoming producer in the music industry, being the man behind local producers Jerome “J@Roc” Durham and DeAndre “Koolaidondabeat” Floyd. He is also ½ of the duo 2Smooth which includes DeAndre Hill, another member of Hill Fam. Dat Boi P has been cosigned by several music industry personals including Dj ButtaFingaz of Power 98Fm and DJ Spinz who has produced for artists such as 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, and etc.
