Leaping back to Winnipeg

After a year on the west coast, honing his songwriting and performing skills in Vancouver, singer/songwriter Dave Adnams has come home to Winnipeg. He’ll celebrate his return with a Leap Year concert, February 29 at Tryst eatery and liquid room 1480 Pembina in Fort Garry (http://trysteatery.ca/). Dave will kick off the evening around 9 p.m. with his driving rhythms and flowing melodies.
Over the past year he’s played around North Vancouver and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. In late 2007 he cut an EP CD with six tunes produced by rising star Ryan Stewart at WineCellar Studios.
“Vancouver was a great experience, but I’m glad to be home” he says. “While on the coast I wrote a lot of material, developed my guitar playing, and learned a lot about performing.”
In addition to the Leap Year concert, Dave has been performing locally sharing sets with Jarrett Oster, who will join him at Tryst.
Dave’s songwriting and guitar style have been influenced by Dave Matthews, John Mayer and Stevie Ray Vaughn. There’s a lot of Eric Clapton too in his guitar work.
Texas-born, but raised in Edmonton and Winnipeg, Dave is a U of M graduate.

Dave Adnams was born to Canadian parents in Dallas, Texas but has lived in Canada since 1992.
As a very young Texan, Dave was known to wrap rubber bands around empty margarine containers to construct very simple guitar-like instruments. At this time Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan were far from his mind but it was definitely a sign of things to come.
After spending a few years living in Edmonton, Alta, Dave moved to Winnipeg with his parents and brother. It is here where Dave found his father’s old acoustic guitar and he began to play Beatles songs by ear. Songwriting was soon to follow. Throughout high school and university Dave could be found with a guitar in one hand and a hockey stick in the other. His two great loves.
Dave is new to the scene and his musical style has grown out of many influences. The most notable are Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Ray Lamontagne.

His debut 6 song record was independently released in January of 2008 and has garnered extremely positive feedback and steady sales numbers thus far. Dave is committed to continue learning and improving on all aspects of his music until he is old and gray and looks forward to doing just that.
