Biography

Dave Adnams was born to Canadian parents in Dallas, Texas but has lived in Canada since 1992.
As a very young Texan, Dave was known to wrap rubber bands around empty margarine containers to construct very simple guitar-like instruments. At this time Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan were far from his mind but it was definitely a sign of things to come.
After spending a few years living in Edmonton, Alta, Dave moved to Winnipeg with his parents and brother. It is here where Dave found his father’s old acoustic guitar and he began to play Beatles songs by ear. Songwriting was soon to follow. Throughout high school and university Dave could be found with a guitar in one hand and a hockey stick in the other. His two great loves.
Dave is new to the scene and his musical style has grown out of many influences. The most notable are Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Ray Lamontagne.

His debut 6 song record was independently released in January of 2008 and has garnered extremely positive feedback and steady sales numbers thus far. Dave is committed to continue learning and improving on all aspects of his music until he is old and gray and looks forward to doing just that.

Lyrics

Always You

Written By: Dave Adnams

Verse 1:
Thrown from your lips those jagged words, I tagged you as one whose courage would leave you faster.

These days are built on borrowed time, I borrowed mine from the lives that I've seen tattered.

Pre-Chorus:
So now as old as you can be,
Its the same blood in you as it was in me,
The years can change your smile, but not your laughter.
Ante up just one more time,
Bare your cards and bury your crimes,
Your penance can't afford to see you shattered.

Chorus:
Its always you
Its always you
And me.

Verse 2:
Out past the dusty, ramblin' hill, Where man held his breath and called his kill,
It did not matter.

But for these chewed and bloodied words I breath,
These long detested twists of deed,
I have no answer.

Pre-Chorus:
So now as old as you can be,
Its the same blood in you as it was in me
The years can change your smile, not your laughter.
Ante up just one more time,
Bare your cards and bury your crimes
Your penance can't afford to see you shattered

Chorus:
Its always you
Its always you

Bare and Broken

Written By: Dave Adnams

It’s a long way down from where you left your head,
And now your lies are running
Through the crimes, the minds of those you bled,
Now will they see you coming down
I saw you coming down

Let fall your shine and call your faith
To grace you bare and broken
On and on instead
Walk your line to stall your days
Leave it a fear unspoken
Now I know it all

It’s a long way back to get your head on right
And now your time is running
Through the days and all the lonely nights
Well did they see you coming down
I saw you coming down

Let fall your shine and call your faith
To grace you bare and broken
On and on instead
Walk your line to stall your days
Leave it a fear unspoken
Now I know it all

So let it fall
Until that day becomes your end
And when you run
I’ll find you out instead
I got you figured out now
I got you down

Let fall your shine and call your faith
To grace you bear and broken
On and on instead
Walk your line to stall your days
Leave it a fear unspoken
On and on instead
Now I know it all
Now I know it all

Sticks and Stones

Written By: Dave Adnams

Ten more minutes mom and I will rise up today
Face my fears, I won’t give a damn what they say
Because you, know I
I’ve got steel in my veins
And when I look into their eyes
I recognize the devil’s game

Now I realize the words they won’t control my mind
Time and time again I think its time for this to end
Now they realize the words they won’t control my mind
I might stand alone but not even sticks and stones can break my bones

Ten more minutes mom and I will rise up today
Shake my head awake and take a step just to say
That you, know I
I’ve got steel in my veins
And when I look into their eyes
I recognize the devil’s game

Now I realize the words they don’t control my mind
Time and time again I think its time for this to end
Now they realize the words they won’t control my mind
I might stand alone but not even sticks and stones can break me bones

Break my bones

So take your time away and leave me laughing instead
And take your words away ‘cause I’ll be laughing out, I’m laughing out instead

Now I realize the words they won’t control my mind
Time and time again I think its time for this to end
Now they realize the words they don’t control my mind
I might stand alone but not even sticks and stones can break my bones

Break my bones
Sticks and stones

Ten more minutes mom and I will rise up today
Shake my head awake, I don’t care what they say

Weight

Written By: Dave Adnams

In summertime your heart was cold
The winter came and stole your soul
You’re crime stole mine
All the days of missing you
Stained by rays of hidden truth
You stained my mind

And you say you’ve done your time

You got me on my knees
I’m begging please, begging please
Take your time again
Leave me holding on, I’m holding
That’s the weight of love

In spring the tale was yours to tell
In falling leaves we rose and fell
I fell with you
And all the things you didn’t say
To bring along a better day
What’s it to you

And today, Its all you can do

You got me on my knees
I’m begging please, begging please
Take your time again
Leave me holding on, I’m holding
That’s the weight of love

So rest your head,
Lets begin,
To tear down all the walls you’ve built around me
There’s no end,
Let me in
I can be what saves you from the deep when you’re down

You got me on my knees,
I’m begging please, begging please
Take your time again
Leave me holding on, I’m holding
That’s the weight of love
