"Sterling Sound"

"This is a great record. I love the songs and I appreciate the diverse styles of music from track to track. Dave flows effortlessly from heavy rock tracks, to power pop and folk. He's a good songwriter and a great guy. It was a pleasure to have had a part in the making of this album." - Steve Fallone

"NPR"

"Sometimes loud, sometimes soft, yet always powerful, Dave Devlin is the consummate musical artist. In a world where so many musicians, although quite talented, are still searching for their "voice", Devlin has achieved just that. With a unique ability to create a dialogue from within a song, Devlin draws one's ear closer to listen and participate. Hence, one's attention is arrested and induced into the very center of melody, lyric and instrumentation."

- Dan Karcher

"Lauren Palena"

Dave Devlin delivers fun, catchy lyrics that we all at some point in our lives can relate to. Similar to a mix of Maroon 5, Switchfoot and 3 Doors Down, Dave adds his own unique style creating songs that linger in our heads for hours after hearing them. From soft acoustic to face paced rock Dave takes you on a journey leaving you not knowing what he has coming up next. Extremely enjoyable to see live or to listen to in your car. Keep your eyes and ears open, this is just the beginning.

Bio

“There’s a bomb inside of me/
Waiting to go off/ Waiting for electricity” is a good way to describe the juggernaut that has exploded out of Gravity Records. Dave Devlin & the Brothers Gruff have fused rock, dirt and spit to come out with the record of the year, “The Stand”. Their music is the most honest and real rock music that Philadelphia, Pa. has seen!

Dave Devlin & the Brothers Gruff have been making a name for themselves over the last few years in the challenging and thriving Philadelphia music scene. From thousands of new fans, a successful freshman CD release on DTC Records, and an MTV publishing deal, national success is knocking on their door and deservingly so. Dave is the ultimate double threat whether it is fronting his energy driven rock band or playing solo at the packed houses of popular acoustic lounges. Dave can change the energy of the room effortlessly, which makes his live performances unforgettable. Days after a show, an attendee will most likely find themselves humming his driving rhythms and stacked harmonies, or singing a hook from one of his many compositions.

With Philadelphia’s present void of a nationally recognized singer songwriter driven band all eyes lie upon Dave Devlin & the Brothers Gruff. Their creative energy moves them to fill this void, as native Philadelphia audibles, The Roots and Jill Scott, were once moved to do in their respective genres of Rap and R&B. Slowly, but surely, Dave is filling the songwriter’s void and becoming Philly’s new hometown hero.

Dave Devlin & the Brothers Gruff story is a basic one. Their continued success has come from a grass roots and guerilla marketing strategy. It is their belief that their audience both fuels and centers their musical career. They do so by handing their fans a big heart and a genuine appreciation of their support. This humble approach has led to 11,000 units sold of Dave’s debut CD and an increased global fan base.

Simply put, Dave Devlin & the Brothers Gruff signature sound is organic and raw. It can be compared to that of an early Elvis Costello, Radiohead and the ever so rockin’ Clash. Their song palette ranges from Top 40 Pop to College Alternative yet finds a way to defy such labels. Like the Beatles, Dave Devlin & the Brothers Gruff likes to mix styles and tempos to instigate a novel breed of sounds, which has been demonstrated on Dave’s freshman release and their sophomore release, The Stand, out now on Gravity Records. Dave currently tours venues from clubs to colleges to festivals within the Northeastern U.S. and amasses an eclectic audience of notable size wherever he plays.

Dave’s arsenal of songs can be heard in regular rotation on both national and local college radio stations (88.5 WXPN, Y100.3, 94.1 WYSP, 91.3 WTSR, 90.3 WXLV, 92.1 WOMR, 92.5 KSMR, 91.1 KWTS and MOJO Music Studio).
