Bio
Dave Devlin has been making a name for himself over the last five years in the challenging and thriving Philadelphia music scene. From thousands of new fans to a successful freshman CD release on DTC Records, national success is knocking on his door and deservingly so. He is the ultimate double threat whether it is fronting his energy driven rock band or playing solo at the packed houses of popular acoustic lounges. Dave can change the energy of the room effortlessly, which makes his live performances unforgettable. Days after a show, an attendee will most likely find themselves humming his driving rhythms and stacked harmonies, or singing a hook from one of his many compositions.
With Philadelphias present void of a nationally recognized singer songwriter all eyes lie upon Dave Devlin. His creative energy moves him to fill this void, as native Philadelphia audibles, The Roots and Jill Scott, were once moved to do in their respective genres of Rap and R&B. Slowly, but surely, Dave is filling the songwriters void and becoming Phillys new hometown hero.
Daves story is a basic one. His continued success has come from a grass roots and guerilla marketing strategy. It is his belief that his audience both fuels and centers his musical career. He does so by handing his fans a big heart and a genuine appreciation of their support. This humble approach has led to 9,000 units sold of his debut CD and an increased global fan base.
Simply put, Daves signature sound is organic and raw. It can be compared to that of an early REM and, most recently, to that of a robust John Mayer. His song palette ranges from Top 40 Pop to College Alternative yet finds a way to defy such labels. Like the Beatles, Dave likes to mix styles and tempos to instigate a novel breed of sounds, which he has demonstrated on his freshman release and his sophomore release, Spark, due out in April 2005 on his own label, Radioball Records.
