Dave Geare

Dave Geare

Singer/songwriter sings original music about blues and the creative. It's got a jazz depth. The voice rings true. Soulful, heartfelt and personal. Original songs with acoustic piano, guitar and vocals.

Dave Geare is a singer/songwriter from Alaska now performing in California and the Pacific Northwest. Blue Seed is his first CD.

The music here is a blend of acoustic jazz/blues with a bit of folk/rock influence. Dave plays acoustic piano with a jazz flair and has a catchy unique acoustic guitar style that sits well behind his rich and soulful vocals. His songs have been likened to Tom Waits or David Gray. Strong, soulful lyrics bring meaning to the music that feels deep and personal.

Dave is backed up on drums by Riley Geare who brings a good jazz improvisational energy to the sound. Riley is a great musician and his timing and emphasis brings a certain dramatic effect without being overpowering. At the same time he finds his way to groove and improvise simultaneously. Riley has played with several jazz and rock bands in the Pacific Northwest and has recently returned from a lengthy stint with a Minnesota rock band called "Dear Machine" (Dear Machine.com).

On bass is Jake Wolf who adds a beautiful melodic aspect that deepens the harmonic feel. Jake is very accomplished with a strong musical background. He has played extensively in the Seattle and San Francisco areas.

"Blue Seed" was produced by Dave in Port Townsend, Washington. Its lyrics and ambiance are reflective of the Pacific Northwest mountains and seascapes. It was recorded at Synergy Sound by Neville Pearsall in a studio by the sea in beautiful Fort Warden State Park in Port Townsend.

Neville managed to get all the depth from Dave’s vocals and acoustic guitar playing. The acoustic guitar is a Takimine 340s. The piano was a Steinway grand. Dave also plays a Kurzweil pc88 keyboard. Riley’s drums are a custom set made by the well known drum aficionado Jerry Garcia (no not that one!) of Seattle. The players found each other in Port Townsend and came together to bring this (and much more) music to fruition over the last few years. New music continues to be written and produced.

Dave is currently developing a solo tour of the west coast. For bookings contact Dave directly at gearemusic@yahoo.com or see his web site www.davegeare.com.

Too Long

Written By: Dave Geare

Too long in these lowlands
I’ve been too long on this road
Too long small and crawlin’
Pushin’ this imaginary load
Out in the distance I see this road winds high
I’m goin’ where eagles fly
And let the wind blow through me
And let the laughter come back to me
You know I think its time I left these blues
I’ve been too long in the darkness
I’ve been too long out in the cold
This lonesome worry
Is gettin’ old
I believe I’ll leave Blues to the sky
I’m going where Eagles fly
And let the wind blow through me
And let the laughter come back to me
And let the wind blow through me
And let the laughter come back to me
You know I think its time I left these blues
