Dave Gerard

 Bishops Stortford, England, GBR

Im a solo acoustic performer from Bishops Stortford (in between London and Cambrige) who plays Folk and Acoustic tracks. Influenced by the open sounds of Nick Drake and John Martyn and Nick drake and more recently Scott Matthews, Laura Marling. I play half covers and half originals in my set.

I'm a 22 year old singer songwriter brought up and living on the border of Hertfordshire and Essex in the UK. I Sing and play Acoustic guitar, Weissenborn (a lap style slide guitar with a hollow neck) and Electric Guitar (as well as playing mandolin and piano badly!). I tend to play Acoustic/Folk/Rock type tracks (Influences listed below). I write and record my own material in my home studio that I've accumulated over the last couple of years and gradually learned how to use!

I'm also working on a short 5 track EP to be ready in December 2010 with a view to having a full album out next summer 2011. Most of my songs I write and do the production and recording etc at home. I'm always on the lookout to collaborate with new musicians as well as looking to get a band together soon (get in touch!). I'm looking for versatile musicians with some level of vocal ability preferably.

I'm also currently playing Live and looking for solo acoustic gigs around the country (prefereable Herts/Essex/London/Cambridgeshire). I have a car and PA and can play up to an hour and a half.

My influences are broad and wont remember or be able to mention them all here but heres a few.

Nick Drake, John Martyn, Fairport Convention, Peter Green, Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, James Taylor as well as more recently Scott Matthews, Laura Veirs, Kings of Convinience, Laura Marling, Johnny Flynn, Seasick Steve, Noah and the Whale, Bon Iver.

Fighters and Writers

Written By: Dave Gerard

Fighter and writers Standard

Born into a poor boys tale
he had nothing to lose
Blood and sweat his hope
Eyes battered and bruised

Wiped the blood stains off his face
Healed his worn out heart
Peoples hero in his prime
Bound fists on guard

They were on they’re knees
Sleeping out his door
They were on they’re knees
Calling for more

But he’s caught in his ignorance
He shouldn’t be surprised
But that’s just a consequence
When you’re the writers prize

Now his fights are small and few
Frozen by their curse
Weak legs are shaking
Fates ruling hurts

And he’s on his knees
lying in despair
Now he’s on his knees
And they put him there

To be released soon
